2010 Mazda MAZDA6 Review Hi! I’m Dave Thomas of Cars.com, and this is a 2010 Mazda 6. Now, the mid-sized sedan market is really competitive, and the biggest players are the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. But we’re going to show you dollar for dollar and feature by feature, the Mazda 6 competes really well against those two. If you’re shopping in this class, you might be a bit of a conserver shopper, looking for the most bang for your buck. That doesn’t mean you have to give up on styling, at least with the Mazda 6. If you’ve got Accord, Camry, they’re kind of boring, everyone has one. The Mazda 6 definitely stands out. It was redesigned last year, and they did a really good job. Now, it’s not polarizing. We see a lot of new designs these days, either love or hate, because it’s just so wild. The Mazda 6 definitely doesn’t do that. It should be good for everybody. When comparing models, you don’t want to just look at the base trim levels at the lowest price. You’re going to look at the ones you might actually buy. Now, the Mazda 6 we have here is a four-cylinder and it’s called the Touring Plus package, which competes against a Honda Accord EX, and the Camry SC. But it does have some cool features that those other two don’t have. It like has a standard Bluetooth. It has these cool lights under the mirror which illuminate at night, so you can see the car when you’re approaching it. It also has blind spot monitoring, which is a really unique feature in this class. Even though Mazda’s a sporty alternative to other mid-sized sedans, they aren’t skimping on interior room. In every single dimension, it either competes or beats the Accord and Camry, which is a big deal, especially the rear at legroom. It also has a trunk that’s bigger than the other two, which is great for stuff, like golf clubs. There are two different engines you can get with the Mazda 6. There’s a really powerful V-6 engine. It’s a lot of fun to drive, but the steering is kind of heavy, and the ride is kind of rough. So if you go with the base four-cylinder, it’s a vastly different driving experience. It’s actually quite comfortable and cushy, and the steering is kind of light. Acquaint it kind of to the Toyota Camry in how soft it is. They’re not as sport-oriented as a Honda Accord, or the Nissan Ultima. Hopefully, I’ve shown you that Mazda 6 isn’t just about looks. It has practicality and utility, too. But with all these features, and for the low price, when you park it in your driveway, you won’t feel guilty about it.
