2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Review

At the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, Cars.com's Joe Wiesenfelder takes a look at the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V coupe.

2011 Cadillac CTS-V coupe Review Hi! I’m Joe Wiesenfelder with Cars.com. First, there was a Cadillac CTS sedan then there was the CTS-V, a performance version of that sedan. You might have seen the CTS Coupe, now, CTS-V coupe. Now, what makes the CTS coupe a V-Surge coupe? Well, it’s a giant bulbous hood to make room for a 6.2-liter V-8 with a super charger. You have about twice as much grill area here to cool that thing off. And then, obviously, you want to be able to stop it. Here behind the 19-inch wheels are six-piston Brembo Calipers in the front, four-piston breaks in the rear. Now, also special to the V, in the back, instead of the rectangular center-mounted tail pipes, we’ve got these large round ones. And on the trunk, an even larger, more prominent center brake light spoiler combination. Now, compared to the CTS-V sedan, the coupe here is actually lower, about two inches shorter, and also, in overall length, bumper to bumper, it’s about two inches shorter. Cadillac says it should be quicker than the CTS-V sedan, 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. Now, as a V-Series model, there are some other special things. There’s a black obsidian interior on the center control stack there, the option of Recaro seats, and also the suede- like material on the steering wheel and the shift knob. You can get a six-speed automatic, or a six-speed manual. Now, a lot of different upgrades make for a V-Series car, but the heart of this car is a 556 horsepower engine, 6.2-liter, super charger. Do you need that in a car? No. Do you want that? Absolutely!
