People think that when you get old it’s normal for you to forget things, but we must remember that Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. You know when I speak to people I say, “Look, if you grow older your body and your abilities change. And one of the challenges of growing older is to keep yourself fit, physically and mentally. Dementia is not a normal part of aging. Sometimes we have to try harder to learn new things as we grow older and sometimes we take as a greater effort to recall things. So when you at normal aging, you’re going to lose a little bit of functioning, but Dementia itself which is embraces Alzheimer’s disease, vascular, dementia none of these are normal parts of aging. They are a disease process that needs to be diagnosed and treated.
