After years of demanding transparency and non toxic computers Greenpeace's Green My Apple Campaign has made some progress and Apple is turning a little greener. Last month Apple eliminated brominated flame retardants. Yummy little neurotoxin and polyvinyl chlorides and then cosmogen from iPod and this month although shining new MAC books of PVC plus the glossy slice a mercurial arsenic frame and use static stainless power. The entire line of MACBooks have been given high ratings by ENERGY STAR and EPEAT and each one comes with an environmental status report that gives you computers carbon footprints. Steve Jobs also said they have eliminated 37% of packaging which saves fuel and material. The MACBooks are also made from a single piece of aluminium which makes them lighter. Well, that ends that to any iPod, and moved ahead MACBook users are scratching their head. So when your MACBooks life is done, Apple will recycle the whole thing. Greenpeace is now moving its effort to other manufactures including DELL, HP and Toshiba. Sadly, the campaign slogans don't quite have the same rank and they are not as cool. So what is new with the Rough and Ready Campaigning style that isn't exactly so rough and ready for the great outdoors. Glamping, no it's not the new latest and crazy dance guys, it's glamorous campaign. All the amenities of a resort, but you are in the wood. These eco campaigning sites have been popping up all over the globe. The dwellings are mostly intense they have composting toilets, solo showers, rain water collectors and stuff like that. What they are lacking though it is Wi-Fi. Come on people we are not savagers, maybe you can put up only an old 11 megabit signal to give us that rustic feel. For example, Paws Up in Montana comes complete with a king size bed, arts on the wall, a personal butler and a private master bath. Talk about all for the low cost of $700 a day. But the loss is going to be on them because if the economy keeps going where it has been, we are all going to be doing low glamping of our own. They say their word is green, because it doesn't travel from Fiji. But what about the plastic, reusable bottles.
