Battle Bears: Zombies! iPhone and iPod Touch Game Review

Can you keep Oliver, The Battle Bear, alive? Trust us, some this teddy bear is not for your toddler!

Revision3 Internet Television Patrick Norton: Toddler friendly time waster or craze zombie wasting mayhem, lets talk Battle Bears Zombies. App Judgment Male Speaker: Need more fire power. Male Speaker: The bearzooka is it functional? Oh yeah. Male Speaker: Stop what are you doing? Are you serious? Patrick Norton: Hello and welcome to App Judgment Revision3's mobile phone application review show. My name is Patrick and you know we love games here, but finding what I can share with my toddler that's a big challenge. What about teddy bears? Why could we more toddler appropriate. Okay and my friends will search for something to share with -- me same as I might have over looked the fact that Oliver the Battle Bears was holding an M16 and yes I know this isn't an M16. But I definitely didn't overlook Oliver's mad battle to survive an onslaught of pink teddy bears determined to hug Oliver to death. Male Speaker: Got your position. Patrick Norton: They are going to hug me to death and -- huh, no damn it. Male Speaker: Riggs I'm in trouble request for back. Male Speaker: Negative, ETA to extraction unknown. You are going to have to lock down until we get there. Arm yourself with wherever you got, good luck soldier, over and out. Patrick Norton: There is a delightfully twisted sense of humor operating here, even better this is point, shoot and it's most iPhone friendly, one thumb aims, you tap the other to fire your weapon, when you hit the head pops off and a rainbow comes out. Did I mentioned delightfully twisted? Check out the background story, you are Oliver the teddy bear stuck behind enemy lines and you've got to fight off never-ending waves of pink bears trying to hug you to death or worse. The cut scene movies are a hoot and the weapons and bosses keep you working. But I don't mean to complain about the game, inside are a giant flame of teddy bear wasting fire, the projectiles and the flame thrower gun and crossbow all look and sound exactly the same. Can you believe bears are going to be different? Of course I didn't really think about the whole weapons looking and sounding like things until I was 20 minutes late for weekly programming meeting, where I snuck in, sat in the corner and glared at the App Judgment producer Eileen for assigning me this review an hour before our production meeting. So we talking like 80 minutes of game play without even sinking, that's pretty good for a $0.99 app and you know what I'm still playing it. So let's talk pros and cons. Pro great storyline, great interface, compelling game, that well has made me late for at least one meeting that I own up to, and it's delightfully twisted, who hasn't had nightmares about being hugged to death by a giant teddy bear. Cons, the weapons all looking sound the same so for. I want my crossbow and my flame thrower to look and feel different. You might not find the story and characters as delightful as I do and remember people teddy bears doesn't always mean toddler friendly. I love shooting games and I'm pretty good with the rifle on the range and in the field in real life, but I'm not sure I'm ready to explain blasting the heads off of pink teddy bears with my two year old, not even when rainbow shoot out. That said I recommend you download Battle Bears Zombies and I'll keep looking for my follow up to Sheep Launcher Plus for me in the kid this year.
