Host: Hi! I’m like the Valley Girl. I live in Silicon Valley, the heart of innovative technology. I know where all this awesome companies are. But how the heck did they get here? That’s why I’m here to find out. I’m like the Valley Girl, what do you do?
Hi! I’m like the Valley Girl. And we’re back here with Catherine Hutton Markwell of BizWorld. What are some of the benefits of having BizWorld in the classroom?
Catherine Hutton Markwell: There are many benefits. One of the benefits is going to be meat benefits, the people don’t always think about our teachers, only think about is this one’s a great assessment of your kids? Say you’re a new teacher and you’re not sure what to do for the first two weeks at school or first week of school, you can use BizWorld for the first week of school. You get tom know who the trouble makers are, who are the standouts, who are the leaders, who’s really good at math. You’ll learn all this stuff in a quick 10-hour course. So it’s a very fun way to assess your kids.

Catherine Hutton Markwell: You get to know them then they get to know each other because it’s so interactive.
Host: Tell me a little bit about what you did before you work for BizWorld.
Catherine Hutton Markwell: I was an investment banker and in the world of finance. I actually worked for the Spanish Olympics. But I’ll tell you, nothing holds a candle to doing something that not only your passion about, that you love but seeing that you’re making such an impact on the world.
Host: What’s your favorite part about what you do?
Catherine Hutton Markwell: I think my favorite part is the quotes we get from kids. One of my favorite quotes is from a fourth grader who said “Now O understand why math is really, really important”.
Host: Tell me about ringing the bell at the walls.
Catherine Hutton Markwell: The New York stock exchange. It was phenomenal experience. We we’re able to have our one of our BizWorld kids go up on to the ringing bell platform and actually ring the bouson bell of the New York stock exchange and in front of the entire which all the traders on the floor. So she rang the bell, but on the floor of the exchange where all these little BizWorld kids putting friendship bracelets on all the traders.
Host: You’re really making a difference. That’s very, very exciting. So this is the Fab cup. Basically the fabulous cup is full of fabulous terms. And what I want you to do is go through and to find the terms in a minute.
Catherine Hutton Markwell: Bizbucks, the currency change exchange in the BizWorld program. Non-profit, an entity that does not make profit that helps the world. Pink the most fabulous color ever; string, the things that makes the BizWorld bracelets. Volunteer someone that helps using their physical and intellectual capital book not money. Entrepreneur someone that’s a risk taker that changes the world. Nail polish something that I need. BizWiz the new program from BizWorld. Teaching the things that we do, they’re selfless and helping someone learns something better.
