Camera and Video on the Nexus One

Description

We round our our Nexus One video tutorial series by taking a look at the still and video camera on the Nexus One. The 5MP camera bests many other smartphones, and the fact that the Nexus One records smooth, clear video is just another notch on its belt.

Hi, this is Andrew Moore Crispin with your Butterscotch.com 10-part tutorial series on the Nexus one also known as the Google phone. Today we’re going to take a look at the camera application and the gallery. So there’s couple of ways to access the camera. We could go into our main list of applications here and scroll through to find it. Probably the easiest way is just to go on to the second home screen and we could see here preinstalled are our camera and gallery applications. So we’ll just tap on camera. So you could see here it’s got a pretty good focal length. It does decently with macro. You take the phone off here and see our high end gadgets stand. So take a picture. All you have to do is tap this button. It will focus in. We can also flip the switch out if we want to move into video recording mode. So we’ll just tap the chord and we’ll see a counter appear on the left here that lets us know how much video we’ve recorded so far. Just tap on this stop button to stop. So you see here when we press the menu key we get some contact sensitive options. In this case, we’ll just going to go into gallery to have a look at the photos and videos we've shopped. So you can see here apparently, we really like our gadget stand. You can see two pictures and two videos of that gadget stand. So we can tap on this one for example and we present it with a video player. We just snap out of that. We can also go in and view our pictures by tapping on them. So you might want to try pinching and zooming or like pinching and squeezing to zoom in and out. It doesn’t actually work. Although that the multi finger gestures are enabled on Android instead what we have to do is tap the zoom in and out icons on the top here. Although if we go into the menu, select more. It’s a little finicky. We try and select crop here. We can see that now we can move this around. We can also pinch and zoom like that to select our crop area. It looked good to me, so we’ll save that and let's close up on our gadget stand. So that’s a quick look at the camera function and the gallery on the Nexus one also known as Google phone. And that concludes this installment of our Nexus One tutorial series. Be sure to check out the show notes on Butterscotch.com. For Butterscotch.com, I'm Andrew Moore Crispin.
