Cancer Survivor - Ethel's Story

Ethel is a 7 year survivor of cancer. In this video she tells how her friends and family reached out to support her.

It gave me time that made me really serious, but when I went to the doctor and he talked to me and he said, this is a serious matter, then I took into consideration and then I accept my problem. But I had pretty nice doctor that helped and then I had a friend, we didn't never talked very much, we spoke to each, first as hi and you know, how are doing, fine, like that So one day I was going to grocery store and she said, "Come here." I went to her, she said, "You have cancer." I said, "How would you know? She said, The way you walk, and the way you move your body, that's how I get to know. I said, I hold up my point, she said, "Yeah you walk very actively" So then she said, "I am not prying business but I wanted to know if you want somebody talk to. When I have these days, doing this thing. She said I am from other state, she was so ugly, even had a hat on, and so one day I saw her again, she gave me her telephone number . When I get the spare, she gets on the - then she will pray, a nice pray, we talk, and we laugh, and sometimes I go to - try to cry, I can cry. So she is the only my, if she is debating, she can do it for yourself. I accept your problem, I say I am sad. She is making confessions into Christ. That's you have to do it. And that's what I do it . And from that day to this, I am great. I feel good. There is not a day I go by that I miss something but I got to be very careful, because I am at high risk. I pray and that's got to strengthen me and I have got - my children know that I have cancer and they are very concerned, they help me through but I don't like sympathy, I can't take it. I just like to be -- let me be a free bird, I am a free person, I like to be a bird, and free and let me fly that's how I feel about it, but I am doing fine, and I hope I will live many, many more years and I hope who ever has cancer, we all can help each other, through our old year. Everybody suffer different in cancer. there is nothing that God can't do, nothing. We feel ourselves the cleanest feeling. So as long as I have god in my heart, in my soul and in my mind I feel that I can make it live probably longer.
