Learn how to choose the right career for you - Is it normal not to know what I want?

Male: Is it normal not to know what I want? Karen: It’s quite normal. Most people actually don’t know what they want to be when they grow up. There are those very few individuals whom we’ve all had some experience with them who knew from a young age what they wanted to be and stock to that path all the way through and we’re very happy with it. But those are in the minority of the individuals that certainly I see in my practice. Most people struggle a bit with what it is that they want to do. One of the reasons for this is that we spend a lot of our time in school and so we understand that doing well in school is important. But sometimes it’s hard to relate doing well in school with all and how is that translate into the world of work. So it’s quite normal not to know what it is you’d like to do when you grow up.
