Host: If you’re thinking about getting a cat or just fancy a good day out, a trip to a cat show is a great idea. You’ll be able to see loads of different breeds, talk to the owners and work out exactly which cat is going to suit you the best. Here’s a taster of some of the top breeds you’ll see at any good cat show. Arnold: Hi, my name is Stewart Arnold and I’ve just started to breed, actually, and this is my lovely cat, Shiba, who’s a Persian cat and she has a very unusual color which is – she’s a blue Tortie Tabby which has only just come into the recognition in the competitions, the cat competitions, since June. And since June, she’s become champion and now I’m entering her into the next class up from championship which is grand champions. Persians originally come from Turkey’s – the Persia area – hundreds of years ago. And I’ve think they’ve been in England for over, I think from the 18th or 19th Century. And I know Queen Victoria sort of set the trend with Persians because she had blue Persians and so after that, obviously, the aristocracy followed suits and they started to have and breed Persians. So, they became very popular, in the beginning of the 19th – 20th century. At the end of 19th, beginning at the 20th century amongst the middle class in aristocracy. Woman: The Mane Coug breed is the large domestic cat. They come from the state of Mane and their name main Coug comes from the fact that in the early 18th Century, when they were first discovered. Local people of Mane associated the fact that the cat might have bred with a raccoon because of the tail who used to keep in the mice in the rat stand in 1:55. Their fur is totally waterproof and heavy and thick due to the fact to protect them from the harsh winters of Mane. They love water. They love playing in it. They get very large. They can grow up easily up to 20 to 22 pounds, and up to 4 foot 4 – 4 foot 6 in days. Variety of colors ranging from solids blacks and whites, to silvers, to reds, macros, smokes, many, many colors. The nails are normally larger than the females but this is not necessarily so because the young lady I’m holding here is 20 pounds in weight. The prolific hunters, as I’ve said, they were afraid for hunting. Prolific hunters… and nothing pleases them better than just brining mice, rabbits, squirrels, peasants to their owners and just play them. The Bengal Cat is a relatively new breed and it was developed in America slightly by accident because they discovered that the Asian Leopard Cat is resistant to leukemia. So, they crossed the Aviation Leopard Cat with a domestic cat just to try and produce an animal that would have this resistance. Sadly, that didn’t actually – I didn’t think that was proved to happen. But, what we have got is the most lovely, lovely pet that comes in all sorts of different colors. The personality, the character’s absolutely wonderful. They’re great fun, they’re very talkative and they make a really very super, great super pet. Old Hag: This is Jasmine. She’s a Chocolate Burmese as 3:58 saw the other one was a blue. Mine, she comes from my chocolate boy and my champion, Mcdo, who isn’t here now. They’re so friendly and everything. You can handle them, do anything you like with them. If you handle them more, the more you handle them, the affectionate they become. Well, at least I know I keep ‘em on Burma. And the 4:28 over the Burmese. They’re 4:36 mating and things like that.
