Census Inflates Jobs Report The government’s big jobs report shows the US payroll grew by 431,000 last month but there’s a downbeat tone today since the numbers mostly reflect temporary hires made to conduct the senses. Private payrolls grew at the slowest pace since the start of the year. United Airlines says it’s using a technique this weekend to save almost a thousand gallons of fuel. The measure will begin on flights from Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany with passengers aboard the plane. The technique involves letting a plane drift up and down as much as 3000 feet. That way, the pilots won’t need to burn extra fuel maintaining a precise altitude. Maytag is recalling 1.7 million dishwashers that were sold between February 2006 and April of this year. The units have an electrical problem that could start a fire. You can go to the Maytag website to see if your model is affected. That’s your Money Watch. For more, stay with cbsmoneywatch.com.
