Speaker: Is your home, could I eat off the kitchen floor or would you be too embarrassed, and more importantly are there hidden health traffic that could be putting your family's heath at risk. Well, we wanted to find out so we sent cleaning expert Julie Edelman she is also known as the accidental housewife on a spring cleaning house call. Julie: Hey Samantha! Julie Edelman the accidental housewife. Samantha: Nice to meet you. Julie: You know what we are going to help you with today. Samantha: What? Julie: Sure, that fungus among us. Samantha: Great. Julie: Sponges they are like the condos for these little bacteria. What you always want to do is after you use them, squeeze them out, rinse them out, wash them dish water. Use a little hair clip, you know. Yeah, and just put that right there, put it on the side of your sink because the more they can air dry the better. Samantha: Okay. Julie: Clearly you have a few toys there. Samantha: There is a few. Julie: And they are dust collectors. Samantha: Okay. Julie: So what you want to do is just get some air tight containers like this plastic ones, you can color code them if you like and seal the deal so that you minimize dust and the potential for allergies. Samantha: Okay. Julie: Now Samantha we are in the most toxic of zones in your home, the bathroom. Tub toys, ever wash them? Samantha: No, I figure they are in the bath, they are getting washed. Julie: Yeah, well you figure wrong my dear. Okay, because they are going to get mold and bulgy because they don't dry up thoroughly. Now there are a couple of things you can do to clean the toys and one of them is vinegar. It's great, it's disinfected, given the vinegar splash. Another you might think of it all the time but vodka. Samantha: Oh! Okay. Julie: And yes you could take a shot too and say helping you look cleaner but that's not wise. It will actually clean the toys well because it has alcohol in it. And lastly, put your toys in a little mesh bag because that way they can air dry. How old are those pillows? Samantha: Probably 3 or 4 years old. Julie: Guest what? Samantha: What? Julie: Say sayonara to these pillows. We are taking them out of here. Alright, do not fight me with this. Okay, I know you want to hit me. Samantha: I do. Julie: Let's go. Pillow toss over, we are out of here.
