Interviewer: Called discoid lupus, what is that? Interviewee: Discoid is generally just the skin. We do not see it a lot in pediatrics but that is a scarring kind of rash. Interviewer: Where is that, the face usually? Interviewee: It can be the face or the extremities. It is often photo sensitive so it is related to sun exposure and that one leaves a scar behind that portion. Interviewer: So, you still watch out that it is never going to become systemic? Interviewee: It usually does not but there are forms that look like discoid called subacute lupus and those are affecting the skin a great deal and could become systemic lupus also.
