On Friday, China rejected US secretary state Hilary Clinton’s call to lift internet restrictions. Clinton spoke about internet freedom on Thursday and it apparently rob China the wrong way. Chinese foreign Ministry Spokesman Ma Zhaoxu released the statements saying that China has a thriving internet culture and those restrictions online were a matter of national security. So basically no, we’re not going to do that, you should mind your own business.
Facebook is going to make it easier for you to organize your applications with the new feature called dashboard. It will clean up your applications so you can find them better and it will organize them into the ones you’ve recently played with, the ones with news and the ones your friends are using.
On Friday the first tweet from space hit the interweb space station resident Timothy Creamer had been working to get the space station online since he moved there last month. On Friday, he got his way. He twitted the following. “Hello Twitter first, we are now live twitting from the international space station, the first live twit from space, smiley face.” More soon, send your questions.
Twitter had started serving trending topic space on location. They’re calling at local trends but only one percent of users can see this so far. It shows what is trending your local area versus worldwide. Twitter has also launch a homepage for information on relief and recovery in Haiti. HP will launch its out coming line of notebooks and netbooks with integrated Pico Projectors. This could hit market as early as this year which makes me wonder why did we not see it at CES two weeks ago. The mini projectors would be produced by Quanta Computer and they’ll sit on top of the screen where the webcam is.
Adidas launched a new line of shoes that they’re calling augmented reality footwear but it’s not really augmented reality. It’s something else kind of weird. The shoes are called Adidas originals. There’s an AR code printed on the tongue. When you hold that up to your webcam, you get access to a virtual world called Adidas original neighborhood. Each month, Adidas will launch a new interactive game and your shoe will be the controller. This will launch on February 10th but who wants to hold on to their shoe like that. You walk on spit and pooh all day, Gross!
The Bible has launched on Xbox. That’s not a cool new game name. it’s just the bible as in the ancient Christian good book. It’s called Bible Navigator X and it has text from the bible. No pictures, no interactivity. It cost 400 Microsoft points which is about $4. And as the inquisitor blog points out, the problem won’t be a sequel to this game.
For the time being, EA games will stick with Tiger Woods for the Tiger Woods PGA golf game through at least next year’s title, PGA tour 11. This has been up in the air since Woods’ personal life has not been on the up in the media lately. EA sports president, Peter Moore said in the statement, “We didn’t form a relationship with him so that he could act as an arms length endorser regardless of what’s happening and his personal life Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest athletes in history.
And here’s why you should always wear clothes when you call a customer support line. They can take over your webcam. one woman recently found that out when she called for help from Dell, she saw herself staring at herself in a webcam box on her screen and said “Why is that up?” the rep launched her camera without telling her. Dell is currently investigating the incident although I have to think that this happens way more often than we hear about. Still a good reason is that keep your shirt on.
