John Norsworthy: Now what I'd like to do this week and especially for the viewers at home, is to run through all the lessons that we've done just to this moment. It's going to help Ruth and Ramey as well because we have had five lessons now, that we're doing pretty well but there was a -- I thought a little bit of a block last week, not, not quite a good coordination, not getting it altogether. So, it's going to be good for them as well. Now lesson number one was with four basic principles, two of them please Ruth. Ruth: Natural instinct and coordination. John Norsworthy: Right. The other two. Ramey: Rhythm and feeling. John Norsworthy: Feeling, very good. Okay. That wasn't rehearsed, was it? We just threw that one at you and you do remember, good. So tell me now, how does the first one help us? What do we do for the first lesson? Ramey: Natural instinct. John Norsworthy: Natural instinct. Okay. Lesson number one, we are going to do a nice little recapitulation. We won't take too long on it. Lesson number one, holding the club with one hand, right hand, because both of you are right-handed and just hitting it about 20 meters, just finding the ball, because that's the name of the game, finding the ball. There is no point in me teaching you technique if you are not capable of finding the ball. Second lesson, into the same shot with two hands. Remember, left hand coming on but not being an obstruction, here we go. Exactly the same shot. Always very easy. I am using now a little coordination to find the ball because the name of the game is finding the ball. You can't find the ball, there is no good of me giving you any technique. Third lesson, third lesson was direction to target. No, good hitting the ball well if you can't hit it straight, because it's just going to cost you a lot of money on the golf course. So here we go. Like that. Target relationship, we chose a target and we made the little shot to the target. Alright, here we go. And we threw the club absolutely in perfect line to the target. This would be a similar relationship for throwing. One, bowling and if you remember when we did the darts okay, like that. Exactly the same, so that's terribly important. Finally, we got into the finish. I did that little extra slowly to show you. There from that position into the finish. Again, facing the target at the end of the swing and then we came to the last of all, which was the backswing. And that was where I think; you Ramey got into a little bit of difficulty, just a tiny bit of difficulty here. I think you had too much to think about at that particular point, which is one of the basic ideas of my teaching, it's to keep that thinking down to a minimum. The throw has got to be as natural as possible. So we did this, up to here, left-arm straight, nice shoulder turn, not being too tight, keeping it fairly, you relaxed here and we had the full swing like that. Now just to make things a little more difficult this week, I am going to get you off the tee. I am going to wean you off it. Ramey: You are joking. John Norsworthy: No, I am not. Come on. We are going to have one ball on a tee, one ball on the ground. Okay, let's go. Nice golf shot there. Okay, that was very stiff, wasn't it? Come on you are much, much, too tight there. When you are over the ball, relax a little bit; relax a little bit. Come on, stiff. Come on, relax. Now this is the one without the tee, so don't let it throw you. Come a little closer to the ball, tiny bit, lovely, okay and relax. Just brush the grass. That's a beautiful shot. Who said it wasn't going to be easy? Okay, I will give you a little secret now, never look surprised when you hit a good shot. Relax. Okay, now, one more on the tee. That's a beautiful one, superb. Okay, now we go to the shot off the tee, just brush the grass, your coordination now, it needs to be a little bit better. So you look a little lower, and try and get the club under the ball. That's marvelous. Really, good. Now can you see how the club brushed here like this? Ruth: Yeah, it was absolutely grounded. John Norsworthy: Yeah, but that's normal, a divot like that is perfectly normal. That's good Ruth. Okay, exactly the same thing now. Don't change your thing. Oh! It's the best shot today, I'm proud of you Ruth. Really I am, superb. Okay carry on practicing please. So for you people back home, that are beginners and have just started to get confidence because you're using the tee and the ball is going well. You've got to wean yourself off it. Remember how Ruth did it. Ball on a tee for confidence, one off of the tee, then one on a tee, one off of the tee, etcetera. And you'll find that it's going to be really easy to come up the tee and hit good shots.
