[Music Playing] Hi, good afternoon. Welcome to October and our gardener’s calendar for the month. Then more of the things that I am doing this month is planting some bulbs. And I am cutting down those perennials that have gone by for the season. And we put those spent perennials in the compost pile; we can also add leaves in as well. If your grasses flop in October, tie them up, that way they will stand up straight for most of the winter. During October you can plant a new lawn or you can overseed especially zone six or higher. The colder zones it might be getting a little bit late to put in a new lawn at this point unless you are using sod. October is also a great month to put lime down on the lawn. Also if you are on milky spore program and it has not been two years yet, fall is a great time to put down some of that as well. October means a few last tomatoes even a rotten one or two and it is also time to clean up the garden, pick some pumpkins, get rid of anything that is deceased and do not put that in the compost pile. October is a perfect month to transplant trees and shrubs or put in new ones like this little rhododendron. You do not want to move fruit trees, birch, oak or ornamental grasses during October but most everything else including perennials, great time to move, divide and replant. October also remember you will probably get a frost or freeze in many parts of the country, get those decorative house plants that you brought outside, and move them inside before they killed. So as the leaves begin to fall, this time of the year October is a lot about cleaning up but it also about enjoying some of the beauty of the month, the chocolate joe pye weed in full bloom, spectacular will bloom right through to that first hard freeze, white is so wonderful during the fall season. Come back every week for all of our tips, hints and helps and of course garden calendar here at growingwisdom.com. [Music Playing]
