Written about since the 13th century and has endured a checkered past. Today it’s a major sensor of culture Politics, Media and Science in Europe. Its economy encompasses a diverse range of creative industries, media corporations, environmental services, AND CONGRESS and convention venues. Contemporary Berlin has reinvented itself as a truly Bohemian paradise. Artist and intellectuals flock to Berlin which is known around the world as the hottest spot for cutting edge contemporary art whether in Music, Visual Arts, Writing or Performance. Berlin’s colorful history has left a physical imprint on the city. Its home to a great many landmarks, the Reichstag building in Berlin was constructed to house the first parliament of the German Empire it was opened in 1894 and house the parliament until 1933. The Brandenburg Gate is a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. The Berlin Wall is perhaps the most famous or infamous of all Germany’s landmarks, it was built as a physical barriers separating West Berlin from the German Democratic Republic or East Germany including East Berlin. The wall came to symbolize the Iron Curtain between Western Europe and the Eastern Block. The Wall separated East Germany from West Germany for more than a quarter century, when it was taken down the public was euphoric. The fall of the Berlin Wall paved the way for German reunification which was formally concluded on the 3rd of October 1990. Today the Berlin wall remains a symbol of the time but self expression has led to its reinvention as an interactive art work. Dresden is known as the Florence of the Elbe. Located at the Elbe River this picturesque city has inspired many poets and artists, Schwinger Palace are one of the cities great landmarks and a top tourist spot as is the statue of Martin Luther. The statue stands as a tribute to the hero at the Lutheran church which collapse after a fire bombing during World War 2. The church was reconstructed to symbolize reconciliation between former foreign territories, the Elbe River which runs to through the city is another major European river, it originates in the Czech Republic before flowing through Germany and into the North Sea. Tourist can enjoy ferry visits along the Elbe and Tristan; these trips make a pretty relaxing experience a bit different from seeing yet another city by far. Looking out over the banks of the Elbe is the Brae terraces. These were originally built to protect the city but were transformed into a beautiful garden palace. If you’re after a more exquisite treasures head to the Dresden green vault this is notable for its renowned is one of Europe’s greatest treasure chest. Dresden is truly a feast for the eyes. Cologne is one of the oldest cities in Germany; it was founded by the Romans around 38 BC. Cologne rises on the Rhine River and enjoys the pictures watery views would expect. Cologne’s Museum Ludwig showcases contemporary art founded by collectors Peter and Irene Ludwig the Museum houses works by Warhol, Segal and Lichtenstein.
