Honda's newest concept is kind of a head scratcher, but it is also bringing new ideas to an already popular automaker.

Honda P-Nut Concept Car Review A big part of the reason folks flock to car shows, journalists included, is because there are so many nutty concepts. But in this case, it's a pea-nutty concept. Honda calls this the "Peanut," personal neo-urban transport. Hey, it's wacky stuff. It's never going to be on the market in any way, shape, or form like this, but it shows interesting thinking. Notice the seating arrangement. You've got the driver front and center, and then you've got a couple of flanking rear passenger seats. Why do you do that? Everybody gets big legroom. Notice the nose. The canopy comes all the way down to the front like a MASH helicopter. You can actually see the pedals through the front end of the car. Now, what I like about this concept is Honda's being refreshingly vague. They're not saying, oh, it's going to have a certain engine with a 3.23 final drive ratio blah, blah, blah, that you know is all BS. They're saying it's going to have modular engine choices though, electric, hybrid electric, and of course, you could also have a lean-burn gas motor. Rear engine, rear drive is the basic packaging. Oh, by the way, the windshield's a big part of the information display. It would have a large, head-up display in there, which is again, show car stuff, but gives you an idea where this innovative car company is thinking.
