How Endoscopic and Open Carpal Tunnel Surgery Differ

Description

Dr. Rachel S. Rohde discusses the difference between endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery and open carpal tunnel release surgery.

Transcript
The difference in the endoscopy version is there’s either one incision or two incisions made in the hand and the surgeon uses what’s call an endoscope or a little camera to assist in visualizing the nerve and then releasing that ligament over the nerve. In open carpal tunnel syndrome we do not use the endoscope and make a possibly slightly larger incision. The studies have really shown that there is no difference in outcome between people who have endoscopic and open carpal tunnel release.
