How Randy Lost His Eye in Iraq

While on duty in Iraq, Randy, 23, lost his right eye and part of his right leg as a result of a bomb explosion. Hear his story.

How Randy Lost His Eye in Iraq Dr. Travis Stork: Imagine being 20 years old, at the prime of your life, and then suddenly your whole world turns upside down. This happened to Randy when he lost his eye and part of his leg during the tour of duty in Iraq. Take a look at his story. Dr. Phil: Randy was severely injured during an ambush attack while serving in Iraq. He’s mother Tammy says that once Randy got home he was lost in the system. Randy: We were driving down the main road in Iraq when our truck got hit by an IED and it sent shrapnel to the face and severed my leg. Everyday I wake up you know thinking I’m waking up from a nightmare. I look down at my legs still until dawn and I still can’t see out of my right eye. Tammy: We spoke to them in Walter Reed about fixing his eye, and he was very rudely I told, “What do you mean fix your eye? It’s damaged.
