How the Auto Industry Uses Computers On behalf of TVLesson.com, this is Chuck Orlandi with Miami Shores Auto Repair. In this clip, we’re going to talk a little bit about computers and the way that it’s impacted the automotive industry. Number one, you have computers inside the cars that obviously work different things in the car and if you get messages from those computers, you have to know what that means like don’t typically send a number like we hook up a machine to the car and we’ll get a number. In order to find out what that number means, you have to have computer software with thus, technical knowledge of every vehicle and there’s no other way in today’s date and time that you can work on cars without it. It’s very important to have. It costs $300.00 a month for me to subscribe to that system. This is by Mitchell. It’s one of the top names in automotive computers. This computer system will do everything from telling you how to do a job, to telling you how much labor time is involved and what’s the charged for that job. It gets very complicated a lot of times on cars and it’s good to have a resource like this. You go in and you enter your vehicle, your model and then what particular item you’re working on. For example if you’re working on a water pump, it will show you how to take the water pump off. It will diagram everything, show pictures and tell you labor time, how long it takes to do it. So, it’s a very nice resource to have. On behalf of TVLesson.com, this has been Chuck Orlandi. Thank you for watching.
