How to Change the Pitch Control on Turntables 2

Follow these simple steps in order to replace the pitch control on your SL1200 Technics turntable.

But I, have a bit of disaster actually and not a major disaster but I am, thank goodness, this snapped here. Why it was or simply this, I am in the edge of you can see, on the end of the actual pitch control here, this piece here, the tiny twirl of flat pieces of metal, tiny flat pieces of metal that come through at these points. Now what they do occasionally and I did not noticed one, is that, when they poke through that filter hole, they twist them So if you imagine, it is going in and at the top, now twist it. Very slightly, so of course even when we get rid of the solder, it is still stocked in there and there was one I did not see that was still twisted. Now luckily, it does not matter for me because I have got this circuit board anyway or it meant is I have to, I am soldering the wires and I have also got to and solder for light here and this little guy here but I have taken this piece from the old circuit board and now I am going to replace it. What I am going to do is just put it in the holes that was allocated for in the new circuit board and make sure this is inline there and then what I am going to do is just twist a tiny bit the top pieces of metal coming through. So that is what it is relatively secure now. As you can see it just there, I am going to solder that in, okay, we will just go back a bit. You can see 2 pints there, that is where the actual pitch light were going, all the green light and then here, you have got an area where I have got to put the cables which is, I think it was yellow, orange, red and brown. Practice soldering the light back in, you will need to fit this unit on here so, again, it is just a screw in there, screw in there, this part here is where the actual P light, the little green light and the pitch fits. And then, just any side here, you will have the two small little legs from that green light and then we will fit in to here and you have to solder that in. As you can see, the wires are now in, yellow, orange, red and brown, the light is in, I have made sure that those two lights touch in. Now this point in time before you do anything else, just check it you know, have a look. To do yellow things, see what it is like and you will get an idea then of when you have made done a little bit of soldering, you should know if something is wrong and look in that side and if it is not the best the world but then, I am not an electrician and I can do some things but not everything, alright. A point of it, some people completely forget, say this guy here, easiest thing in the world to forget, once you fitted the pitch control in and the little green thing is going to hold down there. So, you got the green lights in there and you got two pins as well actually if you can see those pins, where that fits in neatly there and fits in neatly there, make sure the green light is in. This guy here, make sure that is screwed down. That is very important, make sure that screw is very tight. The one there is very tight as well. Now, this is a point whereby I can save you a lot of hard take and a lot of money and a lot of worry. And how do you turn these turntables, okay? Now firstly, let us say of your turntable were necked and you said, yes well, I know mine because that is across and then the side. So, first of all, put across there and scribe it. It odes not matter because no one is going to see under there and hope the guy who has make your turntable cassette, I put that across there but, see this? This is on the undersigned, write your name on it and I am going to put JL and my post code. That is my post code okay, so basically, now, if these were stolen and I look on the bottom and notice my cross and I could say, that is my deck. If the guy then said, whoever have the decks at the time, I will said, no, they are mine. Get the police involve and then say look, just unscrew all those screw because no one is going to do that. Unscrew all the screws, take it, the bass, the plastic, take the rubber base off, look there and no one can it is not yours because no one can screw you. And bingo, done it, so if we look over there, we can see, it is on a, some of the green and here you go, so now if I move it slow it down, nice smooth movement and forward, a nice movement. So, basically, for the sake of a bit of sweat, a bit of hard take and have to borrow a chocolate and that costs me that pitch control costs me 15 pounds UK plus vat.
