How to Find MS Office Templates

Lindsay Smith: Today’s inbox question is from Wesley out of Calgary. He says of he has trouble formatting his documents and he wants to know if there’s a more professional way to create forms. Well, Wesley you’re in luck, AJ and I have found some templates that you can actually download for office. AJ Vickery: Yeah, if you use Microsoft Office as your software for creating like Excel documents and Word documents. You don’t need and have to worry about trying to set them up and make them look pretty because they probably already exist online and someone has probably already done the work for you. You know, I have a great example here, you know, starting a new business, you always need all these forms, you need like expense forms and you need like invoice forms, but you even need things like vacation request forms and all these different things as you started to get more and more employees, if you take a look here, these has just got some really nice formatting to it, looked really professional, you know the idea would be is you maybe still stick your logo on there to personalize it or maybe you change the colors But as you can see, all of that work is already done for us which is a click of a mouse and easy to download. Lindsay Smith: So some of these templates will actually come with your office software, just a few basic ones, but if you want to get in for like the nitty gritty of both marketing and operational templates, just go to the Microsoft website. AJ Vickery: Yeah, or actually you can just go right from the word and I can say, I can open up a blank document or I can look at the templates and they have the Microsoft online in here, and by clicking on that it will take us to the website, but you can see just the different selection that we have here. I mean those things like agendas, you know, awards certificates if you wanted to give an award for the top selling salesperson, a brochure which is a great one, and the idea here is that this will open up Word Templates but it will also open up templates in other programs like Publisher if you have that, Microsoft Excel like we talked about. I think right now I just clicked on travel as a category, and right away it says do you want a form for personal travel or do you want a form for business travel. And if you look at the business selections here, you can do a business trip budget, and that is so helpful right, because a lot of times, as a business owner, someone wants to go on a business trip and you have to figure our like, well, is this business trip have merit in it? And for the most part, we’ve got decisions on those things but there are forms out there that helped you kind of put those thoughts down on paper and actually see the reason and you do it all through a form. Lindsay Smith: And you can make more educated decisions, so let’s just click on that here and have a little look on what— AJ Vickery: Can I take a look on that one? Lindsay Smith: Yeah, let’s try to take a look at that one. And that thing that I like too is that it actually gives you kind of a breakdown of the different things that you should be anticipating because maybe you have been going on a lot of business trips and you don’t know what are the typical things that I’m going to be spending my money on. AJ Vickery: Totally. Lindsay Smith: So it kind of gave you the heads up. AJ Vickery: I don’t know why you’d think of it for yourself when someone has already thought of it for you. Lindsay Smith: Totally, don’t reinvent the wheel. AJ Vickery: Absolutely. Well, the cool thing is it takes you to a page where then it has a little bit of information and actually it has user-rating as well which is kind of cool, you can see here it’s got—this one has four stars out of five with over a thousand votes. So that kind of give you a sense of whether of not people thought it was useful or not. And then it also gives you a little bit of our preview here as you can see, you can take a quick look at it before you download it and decide if it’s right for you. You don’t have to pay for it by purchasing a licensed version of the software, you actually get this service for you. You get these free downloads. Press the Kazinga, so opening up the Microsoft Excel, this particular form was for Excel, then it opens it up and we’re going to take a look at this thing because basically, all the formatting and everything is done, all the cells are colored, all the font choices are made, so we’re going to get a form that actually looks really nice in addition to proving exactly what we need. Lindsay Smith: And that can save you hours and hours of time, because I know some of you when they’re starting up their business, they think that they actually have to go and create these things themselves and they don’t even know where to start. AJ Vickery: Oh absolutely. Lindsay Smith: And if you’re not analytical person or super creative, you kind of need both of those to be able to build something like this out. AJ Vickery: Absolutely, so here we go, business trip budget, we’ve got $1900.00 budget which includes our airfare. It includes our hotel per night, food per day, car rental, gas, entertainment because let’s face it, you know, when you send people away out of town, you’ve got to give them a little bit of money to spend on their clients, gifts and miscellaneous, so pretty interesting. And there you go, we came under budget. Lindsay Smith: That’s $60.00, that’s a lot of hotdogs, you know I love hotdogs. Anyway, if you are looking for a professional way to create some new forms and you don’t want to go out there and have to spend a lot of money on software, you can find it just within your Microsoft Office, go in, click on new forms, follow the links through the templates online and you’re all set up.
