How to Get Fit Like a Professional Athlete WatchMojo.com Veronica: On the field professional safety at San – is the last line of defense so off of the field he needs to train hard.] Hi I’m Veronica at WatchMojo.com and today we’re taking a look at how the pro’s stay in shape. SO how do you approach creating a workout for a professional athlete? Derek: One of the most important things to consider when creating the routine and workout program for professional athlete is what’s going to improve their performance that’s what the athlete is interested in they’ve got a form above average that they have to perform optimally. They have to perform as well as they possibly can. Veronica: How come athletes see results so much quicker than other people also at the gym? Derek: I guess the formula of consistency. They’ll be consistent. They’ll train quite regularly the other very important factor is the intensity how high or how hard they are pushing themselves. They will do their best to perform as well as they can within the training the same way that they do on the field so when you mix high quality exercise and you mix in a high intensity hard effort you’re going to have a very good success on to that. Veronica: Do you have to get yourself in a special mindset when you walk through the door? Etienne Boulay: (Professional Football Player) Yeah absolutely you know I can’t come in here you know with my head down and my tail between my legs. I have to be fired up and ready to go if not he’s going to kick my butt so but it’s fun though. He pushes me and I think I push him as well and it’s a great working environment. Veronica: How do you stay motivated each time? Etienne: Well that’s easy these guys set goals for yourself, you know I think that’s the only way to be motivated is to have objectives and goals that you want to reach and whether it’s long term or short term. Veronica: Yeah how do you know you’ve had a good workout? What feeling do you feel when you leave the gym? Etienne: I feel like I’m going to sleep. I know I’m kind of worked out pretty, pretty good. Veronica: So now we’re going to follow you in a workout. What should we be looking for? Derek: It’s going to be a blend really of strength and explosion. The style of exercises that some that focus more strength some that focus more on explosions a blend of upper and lower you’ll see cool work in there as well and probably a lot of unique moves in there too. Veronica: Okay let’s go check it out. Derek: Yeah let’s get to the workout. Alright so first get to use some use some dynamic prep that’s going to be going up and down the length of the grass and a variety of styles and this is going to workout and warm up muscle to muscle to muscle and joint to joint to joint and get them prepared for the workout to come. After that it’s going to be a four exercise circuit this is called the muscle prep section. So it’s moves that are not too tough but involve a good amount of muscles as well get them prepared building them up for what’s to come. Then we’ll use a game meant to warm him up. Game body temperature as well as loosen him up and work on the reaction and reflexes and it’s something we’re actually meaning have a little bit of fun for a couple of minutes and we’ll place him wall squashed against the wall right behind me here. After that it’s going to be the main part of the workout. You got two hurdles high jumps working on the explosion on that factor fast speed over here explosive as well. Two more hurdles and then going into the band squat. Give me 5 reps. He’s down pop up and on toes and on toes low and pop and that’s it then any if you shoot it up for rapid fire punching and rotations and then would be 10 each side then we go for break to repeat that we’re doing 3 circuits. Hi well there you go a pretty good sample of the end of life of Etienne we’re here. Real solid athlete performing well within a real challenging workout so I hope you had a good time watching that.
