How to Make a Fake Corpse

For this episode of Indy Mogul's Mogulween 2009, we're building a Fake Corpse or Dead Body prop.  This special effect prop has been highly requested and fits in perfectly for Halloween decorations or as a filmmaking prop for your movie needs! 

Hello everyone, and welcome to – excuse me sorry, excuse me. Hello everyone, and welcomes to our second Mogul win build episode, two down and two to go. This week will showing you how to make a full size fake corpse. Erik Beck is a trained professional who know the tools he’s using. You could easily explode, dismember, or kill yourself while attempting to recreate these projects if you misunderstand and or don’t follow our instructions exactly. If you don’t know what you’re doing find someone that does to help out, and if you’re under 18 get the supervision of an adult. Be as safe as you are creative, and enjoy the show! Over the years we’ve shown you how to make all kinds of body parts. Fake head, fake legs, torsos, fake stabile arm twice but we’ve never shown you how to make an entire rotting dead body, until now. You will be able to use this full size corpse for your next movie for a Hunted House or a Halloween Decoration or just to scare the poop out of your friends. Either way it’s going to be cheap and fun to make. Gary spin the wheel. Shopping List 15 feet of one inch diameter PBC, a Styrofoam skull, 12 metal colt hangers, newspaper, duct tape, liquid latex, six or seven pair of panty hose, a pair of old socks, a pair of rubber gloves, miscellaneous acrylic paint and some fake nails. Stay Tuned. Super Time Lapse The first step is to pre-cut your PBC pipe to create a simple skeleton, there should be 11 pieces total. A 24-inch spine, shoulder and hit pieces that are each 10-inches long, two upper arm pieces those are 13-inches long and 12-inches long for arm pieces. And to act as there thigh and shin bones, four pieces of PBC pipes that are 18-inches long. Once you have this cut, drill two holes into the ends of every piece. Now, simply assemble your skeleton with some zip ties and making sure the joints are loosen up to allow some movement. Now, we can move on to building the rib cage. For these you’ll need to make 12 coat hanger ribs, take each metal hanger and bend it like so using some duct tape to help it hold the shape. Once you have all 12 you can start attaching them to your PBC’s spine using duct tape. Carefully craw your coat hanger ribs into place like so. Take on your coat hanger collarbones to the PBC shoulders and your ready for hands and feet. This step is simple, fill your old socks and rubber gloves with newspaper and tape mount to your skeleton. But make sure not to over fill the hands and feet considering our corpse is going to be a little trebled. Now that we have a skeleton with hands and feet, we need to add a head and some flesh. For the head, simply hot glue and tape on your Styrofoam skull to the end of the PBC spine. For the flesh, simply build up newspaper and duct tape over the PBC bones like so. Now, our dead friend need some skin and for us that’s skin is going to be panty hose. Starting with the legs, work your panty hose over the newspaper flesh. At this point not all your panty hose probably will overlap so to join them together and create a fleshy texture we’re going to add a bunch of liquid latex. It’s messy work but keep at it, the lumpier everything gets the grocer it will look in the end. Once you’ve coated the front and back with the thin layer of liquid latex you can move on to the paint. Build team member Ariel choose a raw cyanic color and diluted it with water. Paint the entire corpse and let dry, now we need to add one more layer of panty hose skin but this layers is going to be patchy and rip up. Just like the first layers skin, use liquid latex to attach it. Then using scissors cut holes and tears of the first layer show through. Now, add one final coat of more diluted and darker paint. Finishing touches includes some Cray pair and press on fingernails and you’re done. A Test Film Trailer A desperate Realtor, an apartment with horrific secret, premieres October 13th on Indy Mogul.
