Transcript
All right folk’s this is lesson 4 in harmonic mixing key change in music. Now then, like I said I am not a musician and my son is at the moment is playing station over there. So if you hear funny noises, funny noises please define noise. Did you just say something kind of like “roar” something like that, funny noise, right? Now then you can see here in one of the videos I made we had, in fact it was first video we have this picture and there was a funny man and lots of men walking up funny steps and all of a sudden big pitfall. Now then, right keys on the piano. First of all this is what I would class as a pub piano it sounds rather dodgy. [playing piano] It sounds very dodgy. Now then, let’s say you are paying attention to what you are doing and you are paying attention to the pieces of vinyl you are playing or the CD’s you are playing and you are making note, that is the key word by the way, of what you are putting on next. You are looking at what you are doing and you are listening to what you are doing. Hopefully, it just sounds something like this. [playing piano] Something like that, now then if you do not pay attention and you do not watch what you are putting on next and you do not listen to what you are putting on next it may sound a bit like this. [playing piano] Well, like I said, I am not a musician but what I am trying to portray here in this particular video is firstly, when I play that little tune I was watching what I was doing and the notes worked well together. Now then, I was not concentrating on the second time and I was not looking at what I was doing. I was just throwing any notes in anywhere and it did not sound right. Now then that is the difference between a good set and a bad set. What I am trying to explain here is the music of the records matters just as much as getting a beat matched. By watching what you are doing and listening and concentrating on what records to put in next makes it a good sound. Who are you shooting Ryan? He is playing Grand Theft Auto. Son: He is shooting me. I cannot play it to save me life but there you go. He is shooting you. Son: Yes. You get this so but and also right by then well I have also changed thought now. By concentrating on what you are doing you will get a good set. But by not concentrating and by just throwing any record in anywhere, it does not sound right. Now that is just as important. Now also one point here that again is very important. Now let us say you cannot mix. Let us say you have tried and tried and tried but for the love of god you cannot put one beat in to the other then do not worry all is not lost because I knew one DJ a while ago. He was a pain in the ass; he was bit of an idiot. I would not trust him with two pens but that guy right he could not mix. Like I said he could not mix but what he could do is this. He would listen to the end of one record. He would listen to the tone, the feel, the vibe, and he would listen to the beginning of another record and it was fantastic because as soon as one record finished the other one would come in. There was this perfect blend of tones and feels. Perfect, perfect blend and it sounded brilliant but the guy could not mix beats to save his live. To be a good DJ you do not have to beat mix. To be a good DJ you have to be able to just read the crowd to something like that but you have to be able to work the music in what you are playing. Now then, again very quickly, you have these guys who will play top 40 or stuff like that. Like me. Quite on all the top 40 material is very difficult to mix because there is so much again very little introduction and very little outroduction, whatever you want to call it so there are not many places to mix the music. But what you find is by listening to the key, the tone, the sound, the feel, of the song that is coming out and listening to the tone, the sound, the key of the song that you want to bring in if you work the end with the beginning and join them correctly then it sounds good if you do not it will sound terrible okay. So this is another lesson in harmonic mixing. Thank you for watching and do not forget practice and what are they going to do Ryan? Son: Enjoy. Thank you take it easy. Bye bye.

Can sales and medicine mix?

As you know, I am an advocate for the philosophy that ‘everybody lives by selling something\' and that people buy from people they trust. At its best, selling is about the principle of exchange:- the exchange of value where both parties benefit from open and transparent communication and know what they are engaging in. So can ‘selling\' be seen as a legitimate role in the various practices of medicine? I.e. GP\'s, dentists, optometrists, physiotherapists, surgeons, etc....
