How to Play a Snake Charmer On behalf of tvlesson.com, this is Trevor Ross representing EarthToneInstruments.net. In this clip, I’m going to show you how to play a snake charmer. And this is a gourd with a reed in the inside, it’s known as an internal reed. The reed itself is made out of bamboo. Now we also have this section here that’s made out of bamboo and with holes all the way down. There is a hole in the back as well, covered that our thumb here. Let’s just cover the rest of the holes and here we go. What we have right here is some bee’s wax that’s actually joins the gourd to the bamboo so you don’t want to leave this type of instrument in the dash board in your car in a hot day because this will melt. Also this is used as a snake charmer over in India. It’s for the cobras and I can play a little more bit for you because just kind of getting warmed up here.
