You are going to take one step you are sliding to your left—one step then you are crossing over right over left foot, go! Box out, your knees are down, your arms and back and up. Let us try it again. Ready, go! Okay very good. A little drill here, just setup a little triangle. Let us have two guys out here, two guys down in the boxes. I want you to do is rotate clockwise, basic drill a lot of people have done we do a practice almost every single day. We like to tie some things in as far as man-to-man defense is concern and more importantly offense and defensive rebounds. So, when I take the shot I want you to get the rebound—Ray, do you want to pop up in there please. I want to make sure when we go up to get that rebound we have already talked about boxing out. When you go up for that ball off the glass, we would like you to go up with two hands. So you guys move right over here just a little bit there. We would like you to go up and get that rebound with two hands and bring it down. Unfortunately, what happens more often than not—come in here Greg, as we have a tendency just to stay and stay down here as the ball goes up I do not want you guys rebounding with one hand when a ball comes down and close off your knee, we would like you to make contact and then go up to the glass. You do not want to get caught too far under the basket because it is going to be long rebound. Another of couple of other things—in the 90s everybody is taking a 3-point shot and you take your 3-point shots you have a tendency to have long rebounds we have to understand it. Therefore, the guards have to box out, as well as the big guys. You cannot expect all the rebounds to the fall in the paint. Ideally it would be nice if everybody boxed out and the ball fell right here and the defensive team could pick it up, but we have to box out first make contact—common Greg get behind me. Make contact go up and get it I want to turn to the outside from my outlet, outside hand to my point guard and then we take off. Greg why do you not hop in there as an outlet, the rebound comes off this side you turn to throw to Greg and it comes off this side you turn it towards me. Let us rotate around clockwise. Okay, let us rotate clockwise, shot, box, get it, kick it—good! Okay, let us go. Shot! Even if it goes in good job kick it out. Let us switch it around, switch it around. Okay now make sure that you are able to box them out if you get inside more often than not we just talked about you are probably going to use a reverse pass inside, outside we have the tendency to use the crossover stuff. Go! Shot, box, kick it out—good! Go! Make sure you can see both. Find them, box them—here we go. Okay good, let us stop there. Good job! We are going to have a little rebounding triangle drill. We have the white team on defense. First team to three are the winners the other guys will do a little cross training drill. I want you to box out and make contact first, do everything we have told you. Make contact, have your elbows back, hands up, point toward the ceiling, eyes on the ring. All set guys, here we go! Good position for defense, find them in, make contact, box so, kick it out that ball—good! Here we go, keep going. Box—what are you calling Sean, what are you calling? Ball. Okay, keep going. You got three possessions, okay good. Switch it around, switch it around. You got three possessions. That is three for the light team. Go! Make sure you make contact with them, get your eyes up. Okay, good job good rebound keep going. A lot of contact. Okay last one. Move, rotate and stop. So the white team on a class training. White team up for class training. We get the mountain bike ready, go! Defensive slides and stop. Okay, good usually we do that for 45 seconds.
