Mike: Well, there’s literally a thousands upon thousands of treats being introduced on to the internet and unfortunately into your computer, on a yearly basis we’ve got Linne Hargrove here from Symantec to explain how we can protect our computers from these treats. You know, in the past a lot of people are using the Norton products, anti virus, internet security, but you guys have Norton 360 now, if you can explain what that’s all about, and why it’s different.
Linne: Really Norton 360 is the next level evolution in security. It combines all the great products that we have into one security suite. So, we look at security now, and basically four components. So, PC Security is one component of Norton 360, and that’s gonna have our Norton Anti virus on there as well as robo’s firewall, all the great information and security that you’re gonna need to protect your PC.
Mike: So the folks that had anti virus internet security before, that’s basically in that component there now.
Linne: Exactly. That’s in there, which is fantastic. Transaction security is another thing that people need to be aware of and have. And that’s gonna protect you on line from fishing attacks that we see out there, where you think your bank is perhaps sending you an email, and you’ve click on it and it’s not your bank, we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna make sure that the sites you think you’re on are not known fraudulent sites. And we’re gonna encrypt your information, your personal private information as it goes across. Perhaps you’re shopping, or banking on line, whatever you’re doing on line, making sure that your personal information doesn’t going anywhere, it shouldn’t. The next component is backup and restore, a few years ago people would say to me “I don’t have anything to backup, there’s nothing on my PC”, but now everybody has things that they wanna, you know their memories, priceless, their digital photos, all their music, all those components need to be backed up now. So this is a nice feature because you can neither backup to, you know dvd’s that you may have, whatever you wanna back up to, we’re gonna provide you a service we can backup on line. So we’re gonna provide you 2 gigs of space of which you can backup to if you don’t have a device you wanna backup to if you prefer it to be on line.
Mike: Is that for the whole year that you have for 360?
Linne: Absolutely.
Mike: So that’s a pretty cool thing because now, you just basically, I guess, it’s going in set up the folders that you wanna backup and while you’re connected to the net its just automatically backs it up.
Linne: Exactly. And it only sees new information, so it does not gonna slow down your PC at all. And there’s even a feature in there, you may want your back up to happen in one in the morning, and when your PC is not being use, but you may wanna get up and I don’t know, game on line, you have an insomnia, so as soon as you start using your PC resources and it’s in the middle of the back up, it will say “oh your PC is being use, I’m gonna wait so I’m not gonna affect the speed of your PC.”
Mike: That’s actually kind of a cool thing, I think for most people, because if their like me, I just never get around to backing up on to, like blank CD’s or DVDs, coz I’m you know, inherently lazy. So that one will automatically do it.
Linne: And it’s not just you, everybody’s lazy, I am included in that, if it didn’t automatically do it for me, I think I’d never backup. So it’s a great feature, and everybody really has all kinds of things on their PC now, that are really important that if they lost, it will be devastating. And the fourth component is PC tune up, so we’re just gonna go make sure that your PC’s healthy, that it doesn’t has a lot of garbage on there, we’re just gonna clean it up, make sure it’s optimize, and really running really, really quickly. So this product is really encomposing all the things that you need to be secure on line, you have a fast PC and you wanna secure back up, you wanna be safe in your transacting. So it’s a great, it’s a great piece of software because it’s more of a set it then forget it. It’s really design for those people that are really busy, they got kids, they’re transacting on line, they’re doing all kind of stuff, but they’re not security experts, they don’t manna be. So it’s really simple to install, and then we’re just going to do it on line on the background for you.
