How to Work with a Turntable

Do you know how to manipulate the turn table? To DJ's, it is one of the main elements or equipment used to create and mix beats. Knowing how to manipulate them identifies what kind of a DJ an individual is.

How to Work with a Turntable On behalf of Tvlesson.com, my name is Eric Roman otherwise known as DJ Empire. In this clip I'm going to show how a vinyl turntable works. You have your turntable. You have the spinning platter, some of them have a magnet under them, this one doesn’t., the magnet’s built inside. And once you have everything put together, you need you slip mat which will protect your vinyl from the elements of metal on plastic and your beautiful, beautiful record. These little grooves in here contain the audio quality. Go ahead and drop on to your turntable. Inside there’s a spinning magnet that creates the spinning of the actual platter. You have your needle. Inside of your needle you have an electrode that converts audio movement into an electrical signal. And you can actually hear that audio going through the needle as you place your needle on your record. The turntable then, the audio then passes through the arm into the turntable, creating it into an electrical signal into your audio system and out of your speakers. When working with turntables you actually get more control of your music. You have your hands on the actual music oppose to the CD that you’re touching a piece of machine. So there's a more fun to be had when using a turntable and it can definitely be more expressive, so enjoy your time with the turntable and your music. This has been DJ Empire, thank you for watching.
