We scrub frame-by-frame to dissect this new jaw-dropping trailer of the movie Avatar.

IGN Rewind Theater - Avatar Trailer 2 Eric: Hi guys Moro and Phil we are coming at you with new rewind theater for the second Avatar trailer. Phil: This is totally full of point. Eric: It is a twice as the size of the first trailer and it reveals a lot of the story. So let’s get right to it to and start talking about stuff you might not know. I am going to jump forwarding time to some of the major players. This is guy Phil. Phil: This is a Steven Lang’s character Colonel Quaritch. He is the resonant badass of the Marines. Eric: When it is rolled back, who is that real quick? Phil: Next to Jake on the right is Michelle Rodriguez character Trudy, she is the pilot for the Marines. Eric: Reminiscent to the female pilot and aliens. Phil: Very much so and I think Cameron’s curving his own film there. Eric: Let’s move forward to the next character we wanted to point out, that is Giovanni Ribisi. Phil: Yes, the corporate D-bag, the future is never in short supply on these guys. He is channeling Paul Riser’s character from Aliens as well. A lot of aliens references going on. Eric: And he is definitely explaining the whole purpose, why the corporation is there. Phil: The diplomatic solutions are the Avatars, there is a ticking clock on them and Steven Lang’s character can’t wait to get down there and mess them out there. Eric: So here is another interesting point revealed here from the first time. If you looked on the clipboard that supporting weavers holding - she is specifically pointing out a knobby character. Phil: It looks of a Na’vi leader, a Na’vi superior, it could be their king. It could be West Judy’s character which we have yet to see in any of the footage. Eric: And then at the other cool part that I wanted to stop on right here is bend this shot. Basically Steven Lang is making a deal with Sam Worthington character basically telling him that he can give his legs back if he infiltrates the Na’vi. Phil: If it is mission accomplish there in and then it answers a question a lot of people have they saw the first trailer which was if they have the tech make it whole bodies. Why they would make his legs and now we see it is being used as a bargaining shit. Eric: It also serves to setup the Steven Lang is the bad guy. He is in more melodist than we thought. So here I am going to stop this scene right here which reveals not only Jake’s Avatar but a second Avatar. Phil: Played by Joel Moore, his character is name is Spellman. And when the drop ship comes down to Pandora, it has Sigourney Weaver Na’vi. It has Jake’s Na’vi and Spellman’s. Excuse they are Avatars. Eric: Alright I am just going to scrub forward here to this scene which you may not think it was big deal. But look. Phil: But as geeks care about this stuff. Eric: Exactly, here Jake’s got bushy hair right? Phil: Right. Eric: All the way back to the beginning of the trailer when Jake first arrives on Pandora. And he has the military buzz cut, so what are we kind of implying from this. Phil: Well we are definitely setting up that clearly Jake’s mission to infiltrate the Na’vi last for longer than a week. We are not just spending seven days; we are least some month or two undercover. Eric: And it is continues to setup Steven Lang’s the bad guy. He just get more villainous throughout this trailer. Coming up here is the big reveal, the battle – it is finally happening. It is coming, we are seeing it and it looks like it is a full on. Phil: It is a full on invasion force going here. Clearly participated by Steven Lang pulling the trigger on this, he definitely wants to get down there if we look at the scene. He is shoving Spellman’s character out of the way. Eric: And then here, you can see that Sigourney Weaver is being restrained by somebody, you know somebody is holding her back in the upper left shoulder. So there is definitely a sense of look we are tired with the peace mission. We are storming in, we are going in. Phil: And Jake rallies a small human contagion to join the fight for the Na’vi. Eric: I am going to scroll forward again to this other quick scrub point here which is this awesome mech suit fight right here. Phil: Right, it like someone took Rambo’s knife made it sword size. Put in the hands of this mech warrior and set to fight. This is why you are going to spend 15 dollars to see this thing on IMAX 3D. I am going to see it twice so. Eric: Not just gatling guns they are using but swords as well. Phil: And their bare hands too a little wrestling action as well. Eric: I am going to stop here to just to show you a Michelle Rodriguez again flying her craft but she is wearing war paint which is clearly reminiscent of the Na’vi. So she is clearly siding with them in this battle. Phil: She got a serious murder face happen in their so. Eric: And you know, I mean that you are saying Phil. This fight takes place land, sea, air right? Phil: It looks like we are taking the indoor battle and Cameron is going – I can do that better and it looks like he is. Eric: Yeah, well we will find out on December 18 when Avatar hits theaters.
