Veronica: They can seem pasty but insects and humans have long had an important relationship. Hi I’m Veronica with watchmojo.com. Today at the Insectarium with Director Anne Charpentier and Pierre Veilleux for look at bugs. Anne: Its new etymology is about traditional interactions in between human beings and insects. So here in the exhibition we have highlighted the special interacions. Pierre: You know with Egypt we learn that human have adoration with, for insects. At first when they saw the scarab in the morning going out from his home and rolling a ball, they saw a sign of scarab was a creator of the sand and it would bring the sand over Egypt every morning. Okay so here we have a display on the fighting crickets. It’s a very old tradition if you put 2 male crickets and 1 in front of another it become very aggressive. First of all, they cross their antennae so they will fight. One goes on the top of the other one. The one who wins will sing and the other one will put his head down going away. Many people they will put 2 crickets in a little jar like this and a cricket can win many fight and as he win fight and win again and win again the cricket increase in value. Veronica: So will there be a world if there were no insects? Male: It produce honey, it produce shellac. They are very important to our nature, that’s what we see but there’s a lot of things that we don’t see. Insect are there since 400 million years.
