Male: Of the many climates starts span the length and breathe of Argentina. The sub-tropics of the north eastern jungle elicit the most mystery.
From the air, the giant placidly demure passage of the Paraná River, along the northern border provinces that lays the steamy heat of the dense forest below. On the ground beneath the canopy, the reality of the climate underscores a raw beauty of this relatively undisturbed jungle paradise.
Eco-tourism and bird watching are just now catching on in the region. One of the leaders in the field Charlie Sandoval and entrepreneur and naturalist and his wife and partner Mickey are developing a unique wildlife preserve in the midst of the Argentine jungle.
Charlie Sandoval: But these spiders come in summertime. On autumn is cooler, they disappear. In this type of forest you don’t have a lot of things to experience. And so many have allowed them, so you have a certain type of burrows for instance that are— and they have more activity in summer or they immigrate to other places and when the soon cold weather climate north to Amazon for instance I’m here. And there are other ones that came from south and the area of one side is — and they stay here.
Male: There are boat tours down the nearby rivers where extremely rare birds maybe spotted and added to your experiences.
Charlie Sandoval: This is the one that leaps on the side of the stream. You know?
Male: With many more species, herd or glimpse to be searched out later on walking expeditions along that preserves many trails or for another rafting trip down river.
Bird watchers from around the world are discovering this remarkable jungle retreat making Yacutinga a perfect base for their expeditions in the region.
Yacutinga Lodge was designed by Charlie to be a harmonious part of their environment rather than an intrusion.
Yacutinga was cultivated and groomed in natural lagoon on one corner of the property where a remarkable number of birds and animals maybe observed during the day and evening.
Charlie Sandoval: A parrot shares mostly the wild fruits for instance the pindo fruit are very attractive. They are the fruit often eaten.
This is the fruit. And inside, this is the last flower let’s say. And inside has this little banana, very small. That is the one that is. I don’t want to break it but it’s the fruit that mostly the little part the green part.
And we saw ere at the back the other one with the yellow milk.
