It actually is Easy Being Green Natali Del Conte: Some Windows XP users get booted from McAfee. Facebook launches Docs.com to compete with Google Docs and it’s Earth Day so we’re going to show you that it actually is easy being green. It’s Thursday, April 22nd. Happy Earth Day! I’m Natali Del Conte and it’s time to get loaded. Yesterday was a frustrating day for Windows XP users who use McAfee antivirus. A McAfee update caused the program to misidentify a harmless file a Spyware and reboot the computer over and over again. McAfee issued a fix but it’s kind of hard to fix a rebooting computer. Estimates are that as many as 60,000 computers were affected. You can now stream Major League baseball games on your playstation. Sony’s game console now has the ability to use your home broadband stream all games in high definition. You do have to subscribe to MLB.TV which is a yearly paid subscription and local games are blocked out due to your local affiliate coverage agreements. We have a lot of Facebook news. First off, the company is launching Docs.com with Microsoft. This lets you use your Facebook login to create, edit and share Microsoft documents online. It’s a rival to Google Docs and will most definitely merge your personal Facebook life with your professional office life if it is successful. Speaking of your Facebook login, the company is no longer using Facebook Connect the universal login system. They’re instead moving towards an open source Oath Authentication system. This means that you can still use Facebook to log in to other sites but you can also do things like mark something as Lite or Plug other activity into your Facebook feed from outside of Facebook. Google has added a Buzz option to Google maps. It let's you comment on a public ping about a given location on Google maps as well as click to see the Buzz around that place. Google has also added voice search to Google maps on Symbian and Windows Mobile phone. This means that you can search the map with a speech command. To use this, you have to be using Google maps for Mobile 4.1. Adobe has thrown in the talent as better with Apple. Adobe had been saying that it was hoping to get Flash on the iPhone and iPad soon enough but on Tuesday the company said it was not going to spin its wheels in that direction any longer. They will not go quietly though. Adobe product manager Mike Chambers has been blogging about the tyranny of developing for Apple and the company could go as far as taking legal action. But as the company points out, at least they still have Android. Garmin released the new phone on T-Mobile. The Garminfone is an Android phone that’s fully integrated with Garmin GPS capability. It’s a touch screen 3G phone with something cool called Voice Studio. This lets you record and share custom voice directions from family and friends. It comes with the charging dashboard mount for easy driving. It launches later this spring. Today is of course Earth Day and maybe you're wondering how you can make a resolution to be a bit more eco-friendly. Yahoo has some good tips on its site Green.Yahoo.com. We also have a green blog here on CNET that you can check year round and our own Mark Licea shows you how to recycle your electronics. Mark Licea: I’m here at Radio Shack. Just probably one in your neighborhood so let’s go inside and see what we can recycle. So I entered the store and right under the new cell phone is a box to recycle your old cell phones. They also take a slew of rechargeable batteries. So let’s get started. So right here on the labeling of the box you can see it takes a variety of rechargeable batteries. Right here I have my Mac boot battery. It is a lithium ion battery and on the box it does say it takes it has to be less than two pounds. This is definitely less than two pounds. So let’s do it. I’m actually surprised because I thought that the only place that we could recycle a MacBook battery would be the Apple store, that’s not the case. You’ll also want to make sure that you don’t recycle these alkaline batteries. It says there on the box but you can recycle these rechargeable batteries. I also have a non-working Siemens phone that I can get rid of. But if you have a working phone, there’s a program you may be interested in. Now Radio Shack also has a program where you can exchange your working electronics for a gift card. An iPhone 3G will score you around $170.00 if it’s in relatively good condition and you can put that money toward a new iPhone or anything else in the store. Natali Del Conte: Those are all your headlines for today and that wraps up your week of getting loaded. I will see you on Monday from San Francisco. Thank you for watching. I’m Natali Del Conte with CNET.TV and you’ve just been loaded.
