Laser Bra Surgery Explained
Dr. Travis Stork: We have Meredith and Dr. David Stoker, the plastic surgeon who
performed the Laser Bra Surgery both with us. Welcome to the
show.
Dr. David Stoker: Welcome.
Dr. Travis Stork: So the first thing is how are you feeling after the surgery?
Meredith I’m feeling great. It’s been about a week. I definitely noticed that I
feel a lot lighter. It feels like five pounds have been lifted up my
chest and none of my clothes fits.
Dr. Drew Ordon: I mean that I can imagine walking around with like two weights in
front that’s now gone. That’s the great thing about doing breast
reduction surgery.
Dr. David Stoker: Oh absolutely. Plus, it’s not just cosmetic surgery. It’s functionally
necessary surgery for patients that make them feel better and not
just look better which of course makes me feel like—
Dr. Travis Stork: And I have to confess as a non-plastic surgeon, there’s traditional
breast reduction. And then in this laser bra reduction that you do,
briefly what’s the big difference?
Dr. David Stoker: The traditional techniques for breast reduction lift are simply to
remove the lower portion of the breast and then bring the skin
edges together and try to tail her in a way that looks reasonable.
Well instead of throwing away all like great living breast tissue,
what I use is a state of the art CO2 laser and I treat that extra skin
on the outside to use it to the patient’s advantage. I’m able to
create a perkier better supported breast on the inside so it’s not just
smaller but it looks better too.
Those are the traditional incisions in the removal of breast tissue in
the left.
Dr. Drew Ordon: The key point was there that you removed tissue from below.
Dr. David Stoker: That’s right.
In the laser bra technique here, we’re going to use that CO2 laser
to treat that extra skin so I can create that internal bra there up high
and give them that fullness up high in a better supported breast that
looks better and last longer.
Dr. Travis Stork: So there’s a layer of skin underneath skin?
Dr. David Stoker: Well that’s exactly, right. We layer the tissues there. The trick is
that you need to remove that outer most layer of skin with a laser
to make it all work.
Dr. Drew Ordon: So I want to see exactly what you’re doing here to shape this breast
to get that nice cleavage and to lift the breast. I think you have
some pictures.
Dr. David Stoker: This is a woman who I did about the breast reduction and lift on.
She was really bothered because she couldn’t wear nice looking
dresses without wearing a huge bra and it was causing her
symptoms. So what we did is we removed a portion of the lower
breast here but took some of that extra skin and created a laser bra
on the inside which gave her much more fullness up here and
breasts is state up high and tight and perky without any external
support.
This is another dramatic one. The fascinating about this woman is I
made her breast ½ the volume that they are preoperatively so I
removed a lot of this lower tissue here on her breast because they
are too heavy for her.
In here we have the fullness almost the look of the small implant in
there but she’s got breast half the size now so it’s a win-win
situation for the patient.
Dr. Drew Ordon: So what can Meredith expect now?
Dr. David Stoker: She’s going to have I think a lot less fatigue at the end of the day
sitting over her desk, in the computer, I think she’s going to be
liberated to do activities such as jogging and running that you
really want to do and I think that you’re going to have less back
pain and neck pain and strains and the kind of numbness in your
hands and discomfort that brought you to me.
Dr. Travis Stork: And it has been about a week. Let’s remind everyone where you
were a week ago. Do you put these pictures side by side with you
now? It’s unbelievable — the difference.
Thank you both so much. And continue. Good luck to you. Thank
you Dr. Stoker we appreciate you being here.
