Melanie Raposo: Hi everybody! I'm Melanie Raposo and welcome to the Mommy's Minute. There's a general rule of thumb that alcohol is safe enough during breast feeding as long as it's not consumed frequently or in large amounts. Consider your child's age and newborn's lever makes it very difficult to process even the smallest amounts of alcohol where the toddlers can more easily metabolize alcohol. You should refrain from breast feeding 2-3 hours after your last alcoholic drink and it's been found that daily consumption of one or more alcoholic beverages can harm your baby's motor development. So remember better safe than sorry.
