Transcript
Audra: Welcome back everybody, it’s time for our hot topics and I’m joined by Maribel
Aber, Better’s Finance and Career expert. And, it’s good to have you back here.
Maribel: Always glad to be here.
Audra: I think we always talk about money, this time let’s just go away, let’s just divert
our attention to something else a little different today, alright, see what you think.
We did a story on the show the other day, we’re talking about a new online dating
site, now using DNA to match you up with potential mates. Forget about, you
know, “Hey, do you like to go out and have coffee?” “Do you like to travel here
and there?” Now they’re going to DNA. What they do, it’s called a scientific
match, and then they take a swab of your DNA and then try to match it to other
singles in their database itself. And they claim that the genetic information is what
attracts people to one another.
Maribel: That’s interesting because you know when you think about dating or like the bar
scene or whatever you think of like you know is it love at first sight, is it you
know. But I don’t know if you’ve heard about these pheromones. Right?
So, I wonder if that has anything to do, if you’re swabbing me and you’re
thinking okay there’s some kind of match connection, is it the same thing because
we have a natural reaction or chemistry, if you will, with somebody when you
meet them.
Audra: But is there a difference though between having a natural chemistry with someone
and just, you know, just hitting it off right of the bat? or something that you
wouldn’t even know about, your DNA, that you don’t have prior knowledge of, I
guess, then try to match that up.
Maribel: That’s interesting because then I think about, you know, whether parents want to
match, you know, if they want perfect blue eyes or whatever, what kind of genetic
kind of chemistry we’re talking about?
Audra: Of course, there’s a problem with that to, because could you imagine, I don’t
know, I don’t know, I just don’t know, what if the DNA gets all crossed up,
mixed up? And there’s issues when you have kids with the person and your DNA,
something could go wrong, who knows. But it costs $2000 to sign up for this.
Maribel: $2000?
Audra: Yes, it does. $2000. If you’re charging me $2000 to swab me, you better be
finding a criminal, that’s the only reason that I want some DNA coming out, but
that’s it. But I just think it’s a little strange.
Maribel: It’s a little CSI.
Audra: It is. Forget about DNA, some women just don’t care what it takes to get a match.
We’re talking about mistresses here, everybody knows about Tiger’s alleged
mistresses.
Alright, in the New York coast they’re talking about an alleged story here,
Revenge of the Mistresses. Gordon Ramsay, the television personality
Maribel: Hell’s Kitchen?
Audra: Yeah, Hell’s Kitchen, I don’t apparently he had an alleged mistress that he was
with a few years while he was doing the show and now she is talking to or trying
to talk to one of Tiger’s alleged mistresses, Jamie Jungers, to try and get together
talk about toxic relationships, having relationships with married man. A support
group for the women and she really wants to turn it into a television show itself.
Maribel: See, okay, you know look, everybody should have a support group if they need
that, you know, that place, it’s the idea of making it a reality television show and
kind of elevating that sort of position that troubles.
Audra: Right, it is.
Maribel: Because I think it’s private.
Audra: It is private. But then also imagine if you’re the wife of the guy who had the affair
and then you see the woman up on television
Maribel: Glorified.
Audra: Glorified, it really, really is. But apparently she’s trying, a lot, lot are refusing
comment about this particular situation here but this is what they did pick up and
you know, they want to talk about whether or not the guy is good in bed, and
they’re experience with him, it’s actually sickening to me, I think.
Maribel: I think it’s sickening but what’s more sickening is the public wanting this kind of
intrigue because again it brings it back to glorifying the situation, you know.
Audra: Right. The more interesting to me is to see what happens after the mistress meets
up with the wife. That’s what I want to see.
Maribel: That’s the next story.
Audra: Alright, thank you so much, Maribel, good to have you back.
