Learn About the Mars Orbiter The Mar’s Orbiter is the largest spacecraft NASA has flown to the red planet seems the Viking planetary approach to the 1970s. Pac ked aboard the orbiter is a sophisticated array of instruments including what NASA plan to say is the most powerful telescopic camera ever flown to another planet. Orbiter scientist said the camera provide high resolution images that the planet’s surface down to - and reef. This will enable researches to examine Martian landscape features in great detail. Project Manager James Graf says this technology is critical in NASA’s ongoing search for signs of water on Mars. And then the effort to get close-up views of landing sites for future missions. Graf and other NASA Mars mission planers see the Orbiter project as a logical step beyond the Rover Robots. NASA spirit and Opportunity Rovers have sent back a wealth of data from the Martian surface including evidence that water could have existed on an ancient Martian surface. Graf says, while the Rover data is detailed and abundant it only offers scientists a glimpse of a relatively small section of Mars. If all goes his plan, scientists are gracing for a wealth of data from the Mars Orbiter.
