The typical thunder storm cloud is the Cumulonimbus or thunder cloud. Like many clouds, the Cumulonimbus develops when warm air rises from the surface of the earth. As the warm air rises, it cools, and the water vapor condenses into minute cloud droplets. In a thunder storm, the updraft of warm air is rapid and the cloud builds up quickly. (Thunder Storm Sound) When the thunder cloud is grown to maturity, water and ice droplets come together and precipitation begins. (Raining) The unset of a thunder storm almost always includes strong gust of wind and heavy rain. But the most dangerous and spectacular of all thunder storm features is lighthing.
