Female: Hi, I am Laurie Baker and I am a model with Ford. Today I am going to show you how to get an interval workout on elliptical machine. Like anything else, you start with a warm up first. My warm up is about 5 minutes long. I keep the incline low and I build up the resistance from zero to three and the stride per minute are around 100 or 110 so what I am doing is interval training. Interval training is a high intensity effort followed by a low intensity but active rest period. If you get stuck in a ride, this is going to help you change your routine and get better results. The first part of the workout is the sprint. This is going to be done in two minute cycles so the first 30 seconds, you are going to put the resistance on about 10 and you are going to go as fast as you can. For my recovery period, a minute and a half of low intensity on about five resistance and I lowered my speed to about 100. You can repeat this cycle five to eight times before you go into your five minute cool down. If you want to make a little bit harder, just let go of the handles as if you are running. If you want to change your workout even more, you can raise the ramp and this will put the emphasis on different muscles. There is many different kinds of interval training but the whole point is just to push yourself.
