Hi! I am Marsha Wood, and I am the owner of Aunt Bea's Caramel Apple Slices based in Northern Virginia. For more than 12 years, our award winning apple slices have been a staple at Autumn Events all over the Mid Atlantic Region, and Aunt Bea's Caramel Apple Slices have been enjoyed by many tens of thousands of people over that time. Today I am going to show you how you can recreate our famous caramel apple slices in your own home. I'll show you how to select and slice your apples, how to prepare your ingredients using household tools, and how to serve your slices so they look and taste delicious. Now because of the large volume of apple slices we prepare each year, we use the industrial sized slicer, and caramel pot with ladle. Now, in your home, you can use a sauce pan, a small ladle, a bowl, and a slicer for your apple, which you can find at any department store, or discount store. If you wanted to use chopped nuts, you have a chopper, you can use with a cutting board. Now for the ingredients, the best place to find caramel topping is near the ice-cream section in your local supermarket. There are different brands that one is a hot topping that you would actually have to heat either in a saucepan or in the microwave. And the other one, you would not want to heat, you just use directly out of the jar. Be sure about the consistency because you don't want it too thin that it will seep to the bottom of the bowl, and you don't want it too thick that it doesn't cover them. So you have to be, you have to experiment really get it to the right consistency so it just lays on the top of the apple. Now I use the red delicious apple. There are several different types of apples at your local supermarket. It's your preference as to what taste, whether you want a more tart apple like the Granny Smith, or a sweeter version like the Gala apples. personally use the red delicious. I think a crisp apple is your best selection. An optional topping that you can use is chopped dry roasted peanuts, unsalted or lightly salted. Because many people are allergic to peanuts, you can use any chopped nut that you prefer. Before preparing your apples, please remember safety in the kitchen. You'll be using a hot stove to heat the caramel, as well as the slicers to cut the apple or to chop the nuts. Now, let's get started.
