Audra: Was your relationship flame fizzling? No worries because Better’s relationship experts Matt Titus and Tamsen Fadal have some great advice on how to reignite the passion and some other great dating tips in today’s Ask Matt and Tamsen. Tamsen: Hey everybody Matt and Tamsen here. We’re coming to you today from Havana Central, right in the middle of Times Square, one of our favorite places to eat. Alright, here’s our first question, “Dear Matt and Tamsen, We’re on the 21st century, aren’t we, last Saturday I was out with this guy and had to answer a few emails on my Blackberry, he ended the date abruptly. Was I out of line?” Matt: Yes, good for him, I’m glad at the end of the date. Let me tell you something, the only thing I see, all weekend long or during the week, is the top of her head peering into a Blackberry, I’ve actually walked away. Tell them the time I walked away from you. Tamsen: He has done the exact same thing. But you know, I have to say, first of all pending a dire emergency which I understand sometimes happens especially if you have children or you have a work emergency, there really is not anybody on the other end of the phone or that email that should be that important. Guys have fragile egos. Matt: Go to the bathroom and check the messages if you have to but put the phone away especially on a first date. Oh my gosh, that’s just, that’s crazy. And now with Twitter and everything, all the social media, everyone is so connected that there’s no time for intimacy. We’re at Central Park and she had to take a picture of this beautiful tree in the middle of a Saturday walk and send it to her friends. Tamsen, what is that? Tamsen: I’m sorry. Alright, so the answer is yes, unfortunately you were out of line, he ended the date, maybe he’ll call back, it doesn’t sound like it, you’re going to have to try to connect to somebody else. Matt: Put the phone away, you’ll be okay. Tamsen: Hopefully you’re emailing another cute guy. Alright, here’s the next question, “Dear Matt and Tamsen, I had the perfect relationship for 6 months. My boyfriend and I loved to do everything together but it seems lately all we do is fight. Can you tell me please how to reconnect?” Matt: You know I think that you need to take a break actually, I think you need to get a little bit more independent and let him come back to you. It’s the toughest thing in the world to do but honestly, you probably just took the relationship, you know, too quick too fast. You connected and scared him off a little bit, you know. Tamsen: Yeah, that definitely happens sometimes. I will say, don’t be so available, I would also say if you do want to try to work it out while you’re still staying together. I will plan date nights accordingly and maybe not see each other three and four times a week. Maybe one, two times a week, slow down a little bit. Matt: A little mystery is always good.
