Thread Banger [Music Playing] Hi Meg, the most horrible thing just happened. I forgot little Katie’s birthday. Is there any way I can be more organized, so I stop forgetting people’s birthdays? I am starting to lose friends. Being the start of the brand new year, this is the perfect time to organize our friends’ and family’s birthday into one neat place that we can refer to year after year. Thread Banger Winter Awesomeness The first thing you need for your birthday calendar is cardstock paper. Go to www.Treecycle.com for a variety of recycled paper goods. You will need a ruler, black ball point pen, and alphabet stamps. To learn how to make your own stamps, check out the threadbanger blog for a lit of great DIY stamp resources. First, measure out a line for each day of the month into two columns. Make sure leave about a half an inch between each line and a header space that measures 2”-3”. Number each line according to the amount of days in each month. Because, we have omitted the day of the week, you can use our calendar year after year. Thirty days have September, April, June and November. February has 28 alone. All the rest have 31, except in leap year, that is the time when February days are 29. Now, stamp out the names of each of the year. Choose stamps, sticker, or illustrations to go in a header of each month. Hole punch one hole in the exact center of each page, half an inch down from the top. Punch one whole on either side of that center hole, two inches out. Add paper reinforcements in the back of each hole to make sure your calendar has a nice long life. Tie a small piece of twine to the two outside holes. Hang your calendar from the center hole, and get to calling your friends and family to find out their birthdays. Hey! What is your birthday? You do not know when? Now, you have no excuse to forget. When we return, we will have some quick, easy, and cheap ideas to throw the perfect b-day bash. Episode 6: Jay Smooth Hip-Hop Vlagger So much for the process of blogging is taking pre-existing pieces of media like linking into something and adding your idea on top of it, so I think a lot said that I was in new media, so it sort of comes out of that hip-hop creative process. WEPCTV is brought to you by ASUS and INTEL. You dream it ASUS builds it. INTEL inside. Welcome back! Now, that we have everyone’s birthday mapped out for a well organized 2009. Here are some DIY ideas for how to make someone’s big day special. First, we will make a reusable birthday banner to help celebrate. Find some recycled thick paper, like post cards from a past event. Take some contact paper left over from the wall we made in episode 12. I am using two tones of wood grain. Wrap 14 old postcards with one shade of contact paper. Enough pieces to spell out HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Then, take your second role and cut out your letters. Place each letter on once card, punch holes on the top corners of each card. Tie a small twine or ribbon to connect your letters together with one on each end of hang. Now, hang your birthday banner with pride. Make you own party hats by simply rolling and taping a pre-stamped piece of cardstock paper and add ribbon or twine. Use the paper in your hole puncher as confetti and you have the makings of a sweet celebration. Happy birthday! Thanks so much for joining me. Subscribe to the show and leave a comment below. If you are a January baby, happy birthday! And remember, your nest needs you. [Music Playing]
