When it comes to men's fashion, it is all about handling the deep freeze with ease and focusing on what is underneath the trench coats and scarves. Tom Julian is back with his top menswear trends for the season.

Men's Winter Style Better Audra: Guys need a little bit of help when it comes to men’s fashion but it’s really all about handling a deep freeze with these that’s a little play on the weather right and focus on what’s underneath the trench coats and all the scarves. Well To m Julien is back. He’s got his top men’s wear trends for the season. Tom’s an Industry Expert and the Author of the Nordstrom Guy to Men’s Style and also very popular man on our show the guys love this book, love it. Tom: That’s great too hear. Audra: Good to have you back Tom. Tom: Thanks Audra. Audra: So when you’re cold, it’s cold outside. It’s freezing right? Tom: Yeah. Audra: So you can’t just bundle up and not worry about what’s underneath. That’s what you’re whole focus is, is try to get guys to pay attention to what they’re wearing. You don’t have to be too specific with it, right just have fun with it. Tom: It’s about some great winter basics that become updated style segments. You know our book is all about lifestyle dressing so no matter where you are in then country there are great pieces that you can incorporate to your wardrobe that look very mood. Audra: Okay so there are a few things that you want to help the guys out with. The first thing is the pullover. Tom: Yes. Audra: Say every guy should have one and you can wear it day or night, right what’s the big deal? Tom: So we call it a half sip pullover and it’s like a crew next weather but it has a zip at the neck and it comes in a wide range of fabrics from cashmere to cotton. It could be worn dressy for the office you wear it with a shirt a tie. For the weekend you wear it with a T-shirt and guys like it because it really is a perfect layering item and it ranges in a wide range of prices as well. Audra: What about the half zip, is that a new thing or is that just something that most guys prefer. Tom: Will they like it because again it’s a comfort factor. The one we’re showing you is from Peter Mellor it’s more than an updated men’s collection and this is all in cashmere. Audra: Okay now that the temperatures are colder you got to go with some corduroy but what should you be looking at certain colors or styles. Tom: Yeah well there is the dress pent corduroy but what we’re showing you today is what we call the five pocket corduroy and it’s constructed like a jean and guy’s love it because it’s very comfortable and this is from Mavi and the idea here is to probably put it with a casual jacket or a blazer or you can wear with the half zip pullovers that we just showed you. Audra: So if your woman tried to shop for your man should you look for certain colors because I know some guys just stick with the basic colors. Tom: Yeah well let’s say to the rich and warm tones so brown, tope, gray, charcoal. Audra: Got you and now the boots. Tom: Yes. Audra: A lot of guys just figure out what’s going to work outside. Tom: Yes. Audra: But you have to kind of change your attitude when it comes to— Tom: Go with the urban boot; look for a boot that is lace up that’s easy to get in and out off. What we’re showing you today is form echo and it has Vibram sole. Vibram is sort of a form of rubber so it’s great for the weather and this is a kind of boot that you can wear for office dressing or for the weekend. Audra: Let’s see women have— guys have to have their boots too right. Tom: Yeah and there are great odds for you guys too. Audra: Oh, good, good so they have some options, now outerwear also another area that there’s some option for guys this time around. Tom: You know so rather than the heavy duty winter coat. Think in terms a variety of styles of course the classic trench coat. This is from Burberry double breasted stylish, very smart and you don’t always have to wear it dressy for the office. You can wear it sporty with the turtle neck. Audra: Right. Tom: Then of course you have to have parka and the parka is really the performance parka this is a gray channel quilted parka and it’s from Victorinox and the great thing about this is most guys forget that they can wear this to the office and make a kind of urban cool. Audra: And I like that color too, it’s not a different color. Tom: Yeah it’s not too bright and it works well with all your basic films. Audra: Now women we always talk about accessories you got to have accessories but guys need them too, right. Tom: Yes and accessories now have become a little bit of fashion and a little bit of function so you know you get hats that are waterproof. We’re showing some kangol caps. When it comes to gloves, you know gloves that are little techno but very warm from John W. Nordstrom. Scarves are really the new necktie for guys have an array of scarves and of course hosiery some that are smart wool products and some that are stretch wool products. Audra: Well thanks to you we are now in the pour house Tom because my husband changed his whole entire wardrobe, thanks I appreciate it. Tom: We like that, helps the economy. Audra: Right it does.
