Michelle: I am Michelle I am from Boise Idaho. And if I miss a dose of my birth control, should I double up the next time I take it or just skip it? Susan Ernst: Michelle if you do miss a dose of your oral contraceptive pills you should double up the next time you take it or whenever you remember. So if you usually take your oral contraceptive pill at night, and you remember the next morning that you have forgotten a dose. Go ahead and take it as soon as you remember that morning and then you would still take another dose that night as you normally would. So you would end up essentially doubling that next dose or the next day. So it is important to go ahead and catch up on that missed dose.
