There was the first building on this kind in Russia and was an operation until 1970. The walls enclose a square yard of the corners of which there’s a tower. The onion dome to cathedral was finally finished by architect Thesalvo, the dome at the middle tower is 85 meters high, today the office of the mayor and other officials located in that building. Alexander Nevsky was given the nickname Nevsky after his victory against the Swedes of the bank of Neva. Alexander Nevsky monastery was founded by Peter the Great who respected his predecessor the Sate general very much. The two oldest graveyards of the city: Lazarus and Chiuvin were created at the two sides of the monastery. The latter has called the Metropolis of artists. Among many other famous people, Thosties Stiesky outstanding members of the University of Petersburg and the academy moreover some actors, directors and dancers were laid to rest here. Among composers, the gravestones of Mizorsky, Bordien, Lensky Corzikove, Urbashtine, Glincha, Trichovsky and Stravinsky are worth mentioning. The relics of valleys in the Nevsky are kept n the oldest building of the monastic group, the church of the Immaculate Conception.
