Peter Keller was suspected of killing his wife, his daughter and then setting fire to their family home and barricading its door. ABC News explains what police found when they exploded their way into his underground hideout. “A tense Washington standoff at an alleged murderer's hillside bunker appears to have ended after a body, lots of blood and a handgun were spotted inside the hideout, police said. Police said they were nearly certain the body is that of Peter Keller, 41...” As KING explains from before the body was found -- authorities were concerned Keller would initiate a violent standoff. “Sheriff’s deputies believe 41-year-old Peter Keller is holed up deep inside his elaborate, underground bunker built into a rugged mountainside. A hideout 8 years in the making, he is  equipped for survival and a long standoff.” KOMO reports police located Keller using clues from photos left on a hard drive they think he tried to destroy in the fire. “There is someone inside the bunker, we do believe that’s Peter Keller. Keller was charged earlier this week with shooting his family to death... and for the arson that ripped through his home. Now this (the bunker) has been his place of rest for more than a day.” The Seattle Times details officers’ concerns before they found a body thought to be Keller’s, dead... “Law-enforcement officers used extreme caution, believing Keller to be a self-trained survivalist who apparently had spent the past eight years digging, fortifying and stockpiling the bunker in preparation for ‘the end of the world.’”
