Male: Hell and welcome to a Nike SQ Dymo edition of Golf a Lot Equipment
News. Nike have launched the SQ Dymo range that includes four drivers
and two fairways. Dymo stands for dynamic moment of inertia which
Nike say is driven from the optimal combination of head size, geometry,
centered gravity location, loft line angles and spin ratio. The Nike SQ
Dymo driver is the more traditional shaped high MOI driver.
It certainly looks good at address and the forgiveness and distance is very
good as well. The 9.5 degree model of the SQ Dymo has less weighting
and a higher face together with the center of gravity located further
forward promoting a penetrating trajectory with less spin. The higher
lofted 10.5, 11.5 and 13 degree models gradually increase in weight which
moves the center of gravity back and down from a slightly shallower face
to promote higher launch angles.
These combinations in the set up of the different clubs insure maximum
carry and roll to increase the overall distance while also as loft increases
so does the lie angle of the club that also helps to promote longer and
straighter drives. Compared to the square version of the SQ Dymo driver it
does go a little further. We actually felt that the square version sounded a
little better, but it’s not early a big issue as the extra length and
performance of the Nike SQ Dymo driver more than outweighs any
reservation in this front for the better player.
The head design is clean and classy and the change in the weightings as
you move up the loft is a welcome development. Overall this is a very
solid club and definitely one to try out. The Nike SQ Dymo square driver
is the latest incarnation of Nike Square driver range and it doesn’t
disappoint. The Nike SQ Dymo square driver gives you all the forgiveness
you would expect from the shape of club but does so with great sound and
feel. Off center hits still gave it acceptable distance and the Dymo Squared
was a little straighter than it’s more traditional shaped Dymo Driver.
The best thing about this club was the trajectory, which was not as high as
in the past so the distance was almost as good as the standard version.
Now contend with two new models Nike have brought a new angle to the
world of adjustable drivers. Several other manufacturers have gone down
the adjustable route. At the Nike was the first major manufacturer to
launch a system that involved changing the angle of the face instead of
using weight around the head.
They have called this the Nike street fix system and it’s available on both
standard and square versions of the SQ Dymo driver. The SQ Dymo Street
Fit technology allows the golfer to manually adjust the club head into one
of 8 different positions to produce their desired ball flight. There are 3
different club head positions for close club face to encourage of ball
flights be shaped to the left. To mutual positions they the allow the player
to work the ball in either direction and 3 open positions to the club head
that facilitates the ball being shaped to the right.
These variations change the club face angle from neutral to one or 2
degrees close or open. Additionally that these change in the position of the
club head the lie angle also offers offering a golfer even a more chance to
find the best position to deliver comfort and performance. The street fit
system is probably the best adjustable driver system we’ve come across to
date rather than change the week balance of the Driver the system changes
the angle of the face to affect the ball flight,.
Nike says this can create a maximum of 42 yards difference between the 2
widest trajectories. Whereas other systems are quite subtle you really
could see the change in the shape of the ball flight it’s a Nike SQ Dymo
Straight Fit Driver. It would cure a ranging slice or hook I’m afraid but if
you are trying to introduce or remove a fade or a draw to your game then it
can certainly have a desired effect on your shots.
We would take the standard version of the driver and over the square
version of the dymo street fit driver. But it’s really done to personal
preference. If you really have a problem with drivers then a dymo squared
could be the answer as not only ahs it got a square face but the
adjustability should enable you to straighten out your drive too.
Moving on now in the Nike SQ Dymo range of fairway the words is aimed
at the golfer who wants this club to look more like a fairway wood than a
driver. The club head size on the increase in the search for forgiveness
there’s a trade often the performance of impact with the ground. Nike’s
team of engineers say they have overcome this problem with a Quad keel
sole which is 4 different squadrons to insure golfers can make a clean
contact from every type of lie.
The Nike SQ Dymo and Dymo Squared Fairway woods are the
replacement models to the excellent SasQuatch two fairway woods. We
were too – to wether they are an improvement. Visually, we don’t think
they are quite as nice but they probably feel a little better to hit as they
seem to a have a larger sweet spot. The cambered sole makes it very easy
to hit from lush lies or semi rough. Although hitting from tight lies was
probably easier with the flat sole of the SasQuatch 2.
The head looked very nice and it was easier to shape shots with a regular
Dymo Fairway Woods than with the Dymo squared version of this model.
A little of this does get a little more forgiveness. Overall both models of
the dymo fairways are pretty good but there are better models on the
market and if you have a SasQuatch 2 then I would be probably tempted to
stick with that. That’s all for now so if you would like to get your hands in
one of these nike SQ Dymo Woods then compare prices form every major
retailer by going to our website at golfalot.com.
