Always drive every day. You are watching wrestling daily.
Heard of that Audir8v10 prototype that burst into flames on the Nürburgring. All that won't be happening any time soon, thanks to a new fire engine, only this one has launch control. We will have more. Also Mercedes releases a new E-class wagon a tuner spits at the stock 9 11 turbo and turns int their own spit fire. And we have more news on the rare wheel drive coupe from Toyota. It will be real AE86 successor. What's up everybody I am Derek De, you are checking out Fast Lane Daily on a Tuesday.
And now for today's headlines. In the past decades, the north side circuit in Germany most commonly referred to as The Ring has gone from legendary race track and test circuit to a formal benchmark for manufacturers. We have seen GM, Nissan, Porsche and even Ferrari use The Ring lap times as official benchmarks in press releases or news conferences. As a result, the track or rather the public toll road, has it sits during mid day hours, has become the mecha of race car drivers and car enthusiasts from around the world. The price of admission to the public, only a few Euro, not even a helmet. As you pay your toll, you are welcome to drive the 30 mile track at any speed you so dare. That last line is what usually gets everyone in trouble.
To serve the public faster when they do make a mistake, Nürburgring officials now have this. The rapid response of Nissan GT-R. The striped out GT-R is fitted with a roll cage, racing seats, and that huge fire retardant tanks sitting in the trunk and rare passenger seats. Also in the back, there is a functional fire hose and an equipment bay full of safety gear. So when things go wrong in the Concorso, don't worry, you have got a speeding fire truck coming up from behind to save the day. You won't see anything that cool here in the states, except of course, the Itasca Illinois Subaru STI police car, right there. I still think that GT-R should be red. What do you say, yeah fire - more fire truck like.
Also in today's news, Mercedes Benz releases the E-class wagon. It's a wagon. And from the automotive sandwich shop comes another tuner, alright. This one is from Ohio based tuning shop Switzer Performance. It's the Switzer Performance P800 997 Twin Turbo. The SWPPTT or Switzer -800 997 as I like to call it. It based on the Porsche's 997 Turbo. 800 in the name actually stands for something. You've got a whopping 800 HP and 0-60 of less than 3 seconds. That's an extra of 320 HP and even faster than the stock 997 Turbos, 0-60 of 3.2 seconds. As all possible, while we have the custom GT30 turbo chargers, Switzer monster inner coolers and a bunch of other balls of the all enhancements. Just take this Dyno test out.
No word on price, but it would probably cost the range of second 997 turbo but I am sure it's totally worth. Now I bet you expect that. So why go through all the trouble of having a design build, then test the chassis when you can just use one that's made already. That seems to be the trend lately but the current C6 Corvette platform. Corvette based car such as Anteros, XTM , Innotech C6, Bertone Mantide are now joined by SV Motor Company's 9 Competizione. The 9 Competizione bares a striking resemblance to Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, only uglier and deformed, which I am guessing is exactly what they are going for. I mean they use the same name and everything.
Anyway, the powertrain is still the same but SV engineers trimmed 132 lb from the Corvette's curb weight and gave it a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. SV willing to make 1000 units of the 9 Competizione, and they will cost 99995 smackaroos which includes a new well equipped donor C6 Corvette purchased through their dealer network. They will be playing show until next Saturday in San Francisco and at the Concorso Italiano in Pebble beach on August 14th. In related news, this woman is built on ugly platform. Next up, more news on the Toyota-Subaru partnership that could spun the new AE86. Will the new car live up to its name? That's coming up right after this.
Welcome back. For two years now, we have been reporting on the Toyota-Subaru partnership which soon can bring a successor of the old AE86 back out to the market. Well the Internet rumor mill strikes again. News this week from 7Tune.com is that we will the two door, rare wheel drive, love child from the two companies as early as this fall at the Tokyo motor show. That's the good news. The bad news, the car will be positioned to lower end both companies' portfolio essentially meaning less options, and engine with less power than originally expected. Also humor to be almost 40 HP less. It'll also be a car that they will be able to ramp as an eco-sports car. Such a car will most likely weigh less and could establish itself as a perfect platform for tuners and first time buyers. We will likely to learn more within the next month as spy shoots of the first prototypes surface. Well that about does for Fast Lane Daily today. I am Derek De, it's Tuesday and you guys will end us on Facebook. Said it a millions times and I will say it a million more times, alright because you see stuff before the show actually goes up. Alright, Youtube.com/fastlanedaily, and Twitter, alright. Do it, you tweet face.
