Nokia N810 Internet Tablet - Tech Review Mike Agerbo: Oh, with the ubiquity of the internet, we’re seeing a lot of new devices that take advantage of that connectivity that aren’t necessarily lap tops or phones. This case in point, the Nokia I think this is the N810 internet tablet. Lindsay Smith Yeah, and basically what this does is that it’ll combines a bunch of multimedia features all into one little package so it’s not running like you’re order, cell or office mobile on it but instead it’s allowing to you to access the internet through wireless capabilities that runs 80211b and g on it. This essentially means that any time you’re within a WiFi area; you’re going to be able to pick that up and access the internet. You’re going to be able to chat; you’re going to be to use Skype and things like that. Mike Agerbo: Well, right now it even it has a built-in GPS which is kind of a need function there. It’s essentially an internet tablet that you can’t edit Word or Excel documents here. Basically, you can run all your media files and you can have access to a web browser, things like email and chat as well. You can see its got built-in little camera here. This is kind of cool because it’s got Skype built-in so you can do internet calling with it or even video chat as well which is kind of cool. Lindsay Smith A really important thing is when you’re looking at this, “For what kind of device do I get for me and my business?” So if you’re someone that’s on the internet a lot or if you’re doing sales presentations, a multimedia device is really important because you can actually run a series of different video styles on this and have that with you to kind of show it and it’s a lot lighter and smaller than you say a laptop would be. Mike Agerbo: For Tech kids out there. I was actually pretty amazed of all the different codec of this thing support as far as audio and video, so pretty well most of the video file formats that you have, you can throw up thing, it’s going to play. It has got a built-in SD, a Micro SD slots so you can add in additional memory and you can see it’s a nice design to it. It is a full touch screen, nice large screen so use the stylus and very thin as well. It’s got the pull out keyboard here if I can pull it out. Lindsay Smith And one thing that I really like about the keyboard is it actually lights up. So, if you’re going to be on a plane or something, a lot of times if you’re traveling at night they turn off the lights and it can get quite dark. So, to be able to have the keyboard that actually lights up, it’s a handy little feature. Mike Agerbo: So it’s pretty easy to navigate it. I mean there’s not much to it. I mean you got the web browser, you can access things like Wikipedia, any web page, Google is built right into it as well, IM for instant messaging, Skype and accessing all those different multimedia formats as well. So you're going to say something? Lindsay Smith I was to say the other thing that’s really neat about this is it actually has a little bit of a stand on it so that when you are traveling on the airplane, you can basically prompt that up on your little tray there and work from it and that something that I haven’t seen in a lot of tablet devices like this. Mike Agerbo: Oh, you can work I just sit back and watch my favorite movies. Lindsay Smith Oh, I always—Yeah, you do that is the way because I’m like pounding away and you’re like a sleeping— Mike Agerbo: Read my people magazine. So it’s a Nokia. It’s the N810 internet tablet. It’s kind of across between a laptop in it and smart phones. Its got the connectivity but not all features. You know, you’ve got your cellphone. This would be a handy little edition; you can hit a hot spot and get all the information you ever need.
